The Keiser women's basketball team used a strong fourth quarter, out-scoring (rv) Southeastern, 26-17, to win its sixth straight at home, 82-74, on Wednesday night. The win snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Fire at the Student Life Center as Keiser improves to 10-2 at home this year.

Elliana Schaefer led all players with 23 points on 8-of-20 shooting from the floor and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe. It marked Schaefer's second straight 20-point game and her sixth straight in double-figures. Mimmi Hahne contributed 18 points while grabbing seven boards. Elise Ellison led all Seahawks with nine boards while adding 16 points. Rounding out the leading scorers was Taylor Jones with 13 points. The Bloomingdale, Ohio, native also tallied eight rebounds.

Elliana Schaefer capped off a 6-0 run to take a 68-61 lead with 4:52 left in the game. The Seahawks maintained their lead in the remaining 4:52, including a 5-0 run with five straight from the free-throw line in the final 53 seconds to seal the win.

First Quarter
Keiser 19, Southeastern 15
  • Keiser jumped out to a 5-2 lead following a layup by Mimmi Hahne with 8:34 left in the half.
  • Taylor Jones gave the Seahawks a 7-3 advantage with a made bucket at the 7:01 mark.
  • After a Kassidy Jones 3-point cut the Keiser lead to one, Hahne responded with a 3-pointer of her own as the Seahawks led 12-8 (4:29).
  • Jones extended the Keiser lead to six, 11-17 with 1:22 remaining in the first. 
  • An SEU bucket as time expired drew the Fire within four, 19-15.

Second Quarter

Keiser 40, Southeastern 37
  • The Fire cut Keiser's lead to one, 21-20, following a 3-pointer by Bekki Kalaydjiev (9:24).
  • After a layup by Elliana Schaefer gave the Seahawks a three-point lead, SEU's Mya Herman hit a trey to tie the game at 23-23 (8:23).
  • The Fire took a four-point lead with a 3-pointer by Kacilyn Krebs, 32-28.
  • Krya Long tied the game, 34-34, with a made jumper at the 2:39 mark.
  • A 3-pointer by Julia Fitzwater gave the Seahawks a three-point lead heading into halftime. 

Third Quarter

Southeastern 57, Keiser 56
  • The Fire used a 5-2 run to start the third and tie the game at 42-42 (8:20).
  • A layup by Kiki Britzmann gave SEU a 48-44 lead with 6:44 on the game clock.
  • Trailing by five, the Seahawks used an 8-2 run to pull within one, 53-52, with 2:12 left in the quarter.
  • Elise Ellison tied the game, 55-55, with a made layup at the 1:11 mark.

Fourth Quarter

Keiser 82, Southeastern 74
  • The Seahawks scored four straight points at the beginning of the fourth to a 60-57 lead.
  • A Britzmann layup cut Keiser's lead to one, 62-61 (8:14).
  • Schaefer capped off a 6-0 run to take a 68-61 lead with 4:52 left in the game.
  • The Fire chipped away to pull within three, 72-69 (1:56).
  • A 5-2 run by the Seahawks pushed Keiser's lead to 77-71 with 1:14 left in the contest.
  • Five straight made free-throws in the final 53 seconds sealed the victory for the Seahawks.
