The Keiser women's basketball team fell to the Ave Maria Gyrenes, 80-63, on Saturday afternoon from the Tom Golisano Field House.

The Seahawks struggled from the field in the first half (21.9 percent) while the Gyrenes hit 17-of-29 (58.6 percent) in the first 20 minutes of action. Elliana Schaefer, who reached the 20-point plateau for the third straight game, scored a game-high 24 points on the afternoon. Mimmi Hahne added 15 points while Taylor Jones recorded 14. Jones was tied with the team lead in rebounds with Elise Ellison.

First Quarter

  • The Gyrenes jumped out to an early 7-3 lead to start the game.
  • A 6-2 run by AMU pushed the deficit to 16-8 with 5:05 left in the first.
  • Taylor Jones added three points, going 3-for-4 from the free-throw line to make it a 20-11 game in favor of the Gyrenes (1:20).
  • A pair of free-throws by Julia Fitzwater cut the Gyrenes lead to 21-13.
  • The Seahawks struggled in the first, shooting just 3-of-15 from the field (20.0 percent).
