Men's Basketball Stays Hot at Home, Taking Down CCGA 84-77

Keiser men's basketball extended their winning streak on Wednesday night in front of the home fans, defeating the Coastal Georgia Mariners 84-77. Tyler Poindexter scored a career-high 28 points, hitting the third-most threes in program history with eight in the game. No surprise from Vincent Miszkiewicz who tallied his 23rd double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds. It was the best shooting night of the season from three-point range as Keiser connected of 55.0 percent on their three-point attempts. 

The Seahawks will get to stay at home for another matchup on Saturday when the Warner Royals make the trip to West Palm Beach, Fla. Tipoff from the Student Life Center is set for 4:00 p.m.

With both teams exchanging points in the final minute of action, a steal by Brandon Farmer with 28 seconds left in the contest sealed the victory for the Seahawks.
 
 
How it Happened


First Half
Keiser 50, Coastal Georgia 30
  • Tyler Poindexter gave Keiser an early 7-4 lead with his first 3-pointer of the half (17:32).
  • After a 7-7 tie, the Seahawks used a 12-0 run over a span of 3:15 to take a 19-7 lead with 13:18 left in the half.
  • CCGA responded with a 7-0 run to cut the Keiser lead to 19-14.
  • Back-to-back by Poindexter and Brandon Farmer gave Keiser an 11-point lead (10:34).
  • Another 12-0 run for the Seahawks gave Keiser a 49-28 lead with 1:18 on the clock. 

Second Half
Keiser 84, Coastal Georgia 77
  • The Mariners opened the second half with a 7-0 run to cut Keiser's lead to 50-37 (18:22). 
  • A layup by Vincent Miszkiewicz with 14:34 left in the game maintained Keiser's double-digit lead, 58-47.
  • The Mariners pulled within seven, 58-51, following a bucket by Jamill Giles (13.47).
  • CCGA's Nick Giles cut into the Keiser lead, 63-58, with 10:37 left in the half.
  • The Mariners made it a one-possession game following a 3-pointer by Kaden McArthur, 63-61.
  • Five straight points by the Seahawks pushed their lead back to seven, 68-61 (8:51).
  • Poindexter hit his seventh 3-pointer of the game to give Keiser a 73-65 lead with 5:32 left to play. 
  • The Seahawks maintained their lead as both teams exchanged buckets over the final five minutes of play.
  • A steal by Brandon Farmer with 28 seconds left in the game, sealed the victory for Keiser.
