Down as much as 18 in the first half, Keiser men's basketball fought back for a Sun Conference win over Webber International, 86-81. Five players reached double-digit figures for the Seahawks led by
Calvin Sirmans who had 18 points. The Seahawks relied heavily on the three-point shot with
Tyler Poindexter and
Kylon King shooting a combined 7-of-12 from long distance. The always-reliable
Vincent Miszkiewicz brought down 17 rebounds on the night as he flirted with a triple-double, scoring 11 points and leading the team with eight assists.
Keiser continues Sun Conference play on Wednesday, January 10 with a road game against Southeastern. Tipoff from the Furnace in Lakeland, Fla. is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
An 8-2 run for the Seahawks in the second half that was capped by a
Brandon Farmer layup gave Keiser a lead they wouldn't give up for the remainder of the game.
Webber International 44, Keiser 35
- Webber started the game with a 15-0 run over the first five minutes of the game with Eden Holt scoring nine early points.
- After Keiser got on the board at the 14:10 mark, they were able to cut the deficit to 10 with 12:01 on the clock.
- The two sides would dual over the next five minutes with the Warriors pulling in front 36-19 with just over six minutes left.
- KU closed out the half on a 16-8 run including a Jonathan Paul three-pointer to cut the Webber lead to nine at the half.
Keiser 86, Webber International 81
- The Warriors started the second half with a quick spark before Miszkiewicz hit a tip-in for his seventh rebound and eighth point.
- Tylar Cerez took over the next three minutes, going on a 7-0 run by himself before back-to-back three-pointers from Tyler Poindexter and Miszkiewicz gave Keiser their first lead of the night, 52-50.
- Webber bounced back with a 9-2 run as Tyrone Nesby recorded his 20th point of the contest.
- Kylon King and Poindexter responded with consecutive threes to spark a 12-4 run that put Keiser ahead 66-63 with 7:50 left in the game.
- The Warriors would crawl back within two at the 3:51 mark before a backdoor cut layup from King made it a two-possession game with under three minutes to play.
- With 2:14 showing, Sirmans put the game away with a tough baseline jumper followed by strong defense on the other end to push Keiser to the 86-81 win.

- Keiser claimed their 10th win of the campaign and first in the Sun Conference this season.
- The Seahawks end their six-game homestand with a 5-1 record.
- Another impressive streak was improved on Saturday as Keiser moved to 17-0 in the first games of the calendar year.
- KU is now 31-6 all-time against Webber International, winning 10 of the last 12 games in the series.
- Sirmans led the Seahawks in scoring for the third time this season as he tallied 18 points from the floor.
- Poindexter and King followed with impressive three-point shooting as the two scored 16 points each.
- The 16 from King made up a large portion of the 22-12 advantage for Keiser in bench points.
- It was another double-double night for Miszkiewicz who grabbed 11 points and 17 rebounds to go along with a game-high eight assists.
- The defense for Keiser held the Warriors to below-average numbers in three-pointers made and three-point percentage.
