"Big win for the girls," said Head Coach
Daniel Finn. "Barry is the best of the best in NCAA Division II, and for us to go into their place and beat them says a lot about the talent of the ladies. We had to fight off some nerves early on in doubles, but I was happy with how we settled into singles and played our brand of tennis on most courts. One thing to highlight is we clinched the match at 4-0 up. Of course, I would have liked to have had a stronger finish with those left on the court, but I'm still happy to get this win. I always want to start with a tough schedule. The better and tougher the schedule the better I understand the team. The hope is that each match will test us and give us opportunities to improve and grow as a team while competing. Both matches we started with have tested us and allowed us to see strengths and areas to improve. Today, the whole team put in a collective effort to get this win. Finding a way to get the doubles point today was crucial and ultimately the deciding factor. That said, Vanja had herself a day. From start to finish, she played some really solid tennis in both singles and doubles. I'm proud to see her come into her own and show some impressive tennis today."
Keiser will have a break in the action before facing another top-ranked Division II opponent in Flagler College on February 16 in St. Augustine, Fla.
