Sirmans Triple-Double Leads Men's Basketball to Lopsided Victory over Johnson, 119-64

Behind Calvin Sirmans' first career triple-double, Keiser men's basketball routed Johnson in the final non-conference game of the season on Monday evening in Kissimmee, Fla., winning 119-64. The Sirmans triple-double line finished with 12 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds. Nirobi Peeler Jr. led all scorers with 27 points, making the second-most three-pointers in program history. Tyler Poindexter followed with 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field.

Keiser will have a longer break than normal before heading back into Sun Conference play on Saturday against Webber International on the road. Tipoff from Sabbagh Athletic Center in Babson Park, Fla. is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

Down three in the first half, Keiser went on a 17-0 run over the next three minutes to open a 14-point lead.
 
 
How it Happened


First Half
Keiser 51, Johnson 26
  • The Seahawks would get off to a hot start, taking an 11-6 lead on a Sirmans jumper, but the Suns would quickly respond, tying the game at 11-11 with 15:30 showing.
  • Both sides would trade baskets before Fabian De Los Rios hit a three to put Johnson ahead 22-19 with under 10 minutes to play in the half.
  • The script would flip from there with KU going on a 17-0 run to hold the 14-point lead with 5:25 on the clock.
  • Nirobi Peeler Jr. and Chris Roth would take the Seahawks into the half with multiple threes as KU widened the lead to 51-26 at the break.

Second Half
Keiser 119, FMU 64
  • Tyler Poindexter would start the second half scoring, kicking off a 10-0 run for Keiser.
  • A free throw from Albert Dennis put the Seahawks ahead by 30 with 13:41 on the clock and the lead would not come down from there through the remainder of the game.
  • By the nine-minute mark, Keiser was ahead by 40 after Peeler Jr. hit two more threes.
  • The Seahawks would cruise through the finish line, leading 119-64 at the final horn.

  • Keiser improved to 14-6 on the year with the win and finished their non-conference regular season at 10-3.
  • The 119 points are the third-most points scored in a game in program history.
  • Keiser also tied the program record for most three-pointers made in a game with 21.
