The Keiser women's basketball improved to 8-2 at the Student Life Center on Saturday with a 75-66 win over the Ave Maria Gyrenes. 

Mimmi Hahne led all Seahawks with a career-high 22 points. Also scoring in double-figures were Elise Ellison (14) and Kyra Long (12). Ellison also led the team in rebounding with 12 for her seventh double-double of the season. Outrebounding the Gyrenes, 54-46, five Seahawks grabbed seven or more rebounds in the game.

Early in the fourth, Elliana Schaefer outscored the Gyrenes, 7-2, to give Keiser a comfortable lead.
 
 
How it Happened


First Quarter
Keiser 20, Ave Maria 18
  • After falling behind, 4-0, the Seahawks responded with five straight points to take a 5-4 lead following a 3-pointer by Mimmi Hahne (6:11).
  • A three-point play by Zariah Jenkins gave the Seahawks a 15-12 lead with 3:02 left in the quarter.
  • Kyra Long hit a 3-pointer to give Keiser a 20-15 lead with nine second left.
  • Ave Maria's Casey Humphrey heaved a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer, sinking the shot as the Seahawks led 20-18 after one.
  • The Seahawks forced five turnovers in the quarter.

Second Quarter
Keiser 37, Ave Maria 24
  • Hahne got the scoring started for Keiser in the quarter, giving the Seahawks a 22-18 lead with 8:44 left in the half.
  • Hahne hit a pair of free throw with 7:00 on the clock to cap off a 6-0 run for the Seahawks to start the second.
  • Long scored four straight points for the Seahawks to push Keiser's lead to nine, 30-12 (3:07).
  • Fitzwater pushed Keiser's run to 7-1 with her second 3-pointer of the game (33-22 with 2:19 remaining in the half).
  • Keiser used a 4-0 run in the final 1:43 take a 13-point lead heading into halftime. 

Third Quarter

  • AMU used a 5-0 run to start the quarter, 37-29.
  • The Seahawks responded as Taylor Jones converted a three-point play, 40-29 (8:36).
  • The Gyrenes used a 6-0 run to cut the Seahawks lead to four, 44-40, with 5:53 left in the third. 
  • Long snapped a scoreless streak for the Seahawks (3:27), converting two free throws, 53-48, with 32 second left. 

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 75, Ave Maria 66
  • AMU tied the game, 54-54, with a 3-pointer by Maria Kuhlman with 8:20 left in the game.
  • Elliana Schaefer scored five straight points for the Seahawks to push Keiser's lead back to five, 59-54 (7:31).
  • Schaefer added two more to give Keiser a 61-56 advantage (6:58).
  • A 6-0 run extended Keiser's lead, 65-56, with 4:54 on the game clock.
  • Hahne gave Keiser a seven-point lead with her 20th point of the afternoon (3:19).
  • The Seahawks scored seven straight from the line to close out the game.
