Poor shooting early on led to the Seahawks first conference loss of the season, as the Keiser women's basketball team fell to the Southeastern Fire, 76-63, on Wednesday night.

Zariah Jenkins led all Seahawks with a career-high 16 points. Three other Seahawks reached double-figures in scoring as Elliana Schaefer added 13, Mimmi Hahne poured in 11, and Elise Ellison scored 10. Taylor Jones led all Seahawks with nine boards. Keiser finished the night shooting 34.8 percent from the field (23-of-66) and made 3-of-17 from 3-point range. The Fire cooled off in the fourth but finished shooting 43.1 percent on the night, including 12-of-34 from downtown.

First Quarter
Southeastern 22, Keiser 12
  • After Keiser opened the game with on a 5-0 run, the Fire scored 10 straight to take a 10-5 lead with 6:46 on the game clock.
  • A 3-pointer by Elliana Schaefer pulled Keiser within two, 10-8 (5:56).
  • SEU outscored the Seahawks, 12-4, to close out the quarter. 

Second Quarter
Southeastern 47, Keiser 30
  • Buckets by Taylor Jones (9:15) and Schaefer (8:53) cut into the Fire lead, 24-17.
  • The Fire pushed its lead back to 10, 28-18, following a layup by Kiki Britzmann (6:29).
  • Zariah Jenkins made it a 28-22 game with a made jumper at the 5:33 mark. 
  • A 9-0 run extended the Fire's lead to 37-22 with 3:53 left in the half.

Third Quarter
Southeastern 67, Keiser 48
  • Ellison scored four straight points to cut into the Fire lead, 52-37 (7:24).
  • A 3-pointer by Kassidy Jones with 6:43 on the game clock gave SEU a 20-point lead, 57-37.

Fourth Quarter
Southeastern 76, Keiser 63
  • Keiser began the fourth, scoring five straight points, 67-53.(8:39).
  • Schaefer added another bucket to make it a 12-point game, 67-55.
  • Ellison scored the team's ninth straight point with a bucket at the 5:16 mark. 
  • A 9-0 run by the Fire put the game out of reach.
