It was an anticipated match that lived up to the hype as two of the top teams in the NAIA squared off in Foley, Alabama on Friday night. With only two goals scored in the first 75 minutes, the final 15 minutes provided five goals to separate the teams, giving No. 3 William Carey a 4-3 win over No. 5 Keiser on the back of two penalties in the final three minutes.
- William Carey opened with the first opportunity, but Mariangela Jimenez sent her attempt wide, keeping the score level.
- Keiser countered with chances of their own firing five shots in 10 minutes as the momentum turned.
- In the 30th minute, a long through pass from Hana Masuko found Ramona Kannady who deflected a shot off the keeper and eventually rolled in to give KU the lead.
- WCU's final chance of the half came in the 36th minute, but Zara Board was up to the task, keeping the 1-0 lead into the break.
- The Crusaders countered a Seahawks attack early in the second, forcing a misplay and leading to a William Carey goal to tie the game in the 48th minute.
- Over the next 20 minutes, the teams would trade fouls and yellow cards as the tension began to build.
- Board would come up big again in the 65th minute, making a 1-on-1 save to keep it level.
- Finally, in the 77th minute, Alyssia Davis found an opening and curled a shot from outside the box to give William Carey the lead.
