Lauren Riley led the way for the No. 3 Keiser Seahawks on Monday scoring three goals to give KU its first win of the season. The hat trick was the first of the career for Riley and also gave the Seahawks their first ranked win of the year as they downed No. 24 Reinhardt 4-1.
- Keiser was firing out of the gates, firing off the first four shots of the game within the first 10 minutes.
- In the 16th minute, Emilia Nilsson was played through by Olivia Pousette and crossed the ball to Lauren Riley who buried the first goal of the 2023 season.
- The physicality of the game began to show with multiple fouls occurring through the rest of the first half including a yellow card handed out to Reinhardt's Reese Wise.
- The Seahawks opened the chances in the second half with two early shots before the Eagles produced two of their own with each getting saved by Zara Board.
- With just under 10 minutes gone in the second half, Seira Uko sent a through pass to Georgia Little who used a ground cross to find Ramona Kannady at the edge of the box who rocketed a shot over the keeper and into the net to make it 2-0.
- Reinhardt would quickly respond with a goal of their own following a misplay on the Keiser back line to make it a 2-1 game.
- The Seahawks were quick to get back on the attack forcing three saves on five shots over the next 15 minutes.
- A perfectly placed through pass from Pousette would break the Eagles' defense and leave Riley open for a laser of a shot into the upper left corner of the net making it 3-1 in the 70th minute.
- Seven minutes later Nynka Rucker fired a shot that ricocheted off the crossbar where Riley was lying in wait and headed home her third goal of the game and leave the Seahawks with a comfortable 4-1 lead.
- Keiser would not let up on the attack for the rest of the game, totaling 21 shots to Reinhardt's 5 and winning the game 4-1.
- The Seahawks improved to 1-0-1 to begin the year and 61-31-10 all-time against ranked opponents.
- Riley's hat trick is the first of the season for the Seahawks who totaled four hat tricks last year, most recently done by Maja Lundman against Florida Memorial.
- With her three goals today, Riley now totals five goals in her career against Reinhardt.
- Pousette tallied two assists in the contest to quickly place her atop the leaderboard in the category.
- Kannady also got on board with her first goal of the year as her friendly rivalry with Riley seems to be spilling into a new year.
- Nilsson and Rucker both tallied their first collegiate assists while Little and Uko each earned their first of the new year.
- In net, Board earned her second win of the year, making two saves in the contest.
- Overall, Keiser outshot Reinhardt 21-5 in the game, 12-3 on goal.
