How it Happened

The Seahawks started the match well, with five separate 3-0 runs spread throughout the frame to give Keiser the 1-0 match lead. In the second set, KU battled with the CCGA front line to bring the score to 13-8 when the Mariners took a timeout. A couple points after the break, Keiser ignited a 5-0 run to take a 19-10 advantage. Coastal Georgia took a timeout and put together a 4-1 run, but Keiser maintained the lead and took the set on a Hannah Heide kill. The third set featured a 3-0 run early on from the Mariners, and a 6-0 run for CCGA put Keiser in an 18-10 hole midway through the set. The Seahawks would regroup and get the score to 20-14, but a 4-0 Mariner run gave Coastal Georgia the space they needed to take the set. The final set was a close fight. Keiser took an early 10-7 lead with a 4-0 run, and forced a CCGA timeout after going up 15-10. The Mariners navigated their way back into the match, and brought the score to 21-21 late. A 3-0 Keiser run after a Mariner kill put the Seahawks in a match point situation, but Coastal Georgia responded with back-to-back points to tie the match once again at 24-24. However, two consecutive Brooklynn Slater kills prevented the match from going to a fifth set and gave Keiser the win.
