No. 3 Women's Soccer outshot their opponent for the entirety of the game but could not break through for a goal in the 2023 season opener. The Seahawks worked 17 shot opportunities to their opponents' six, but the end result finished as a draw.


How it Happened
  • Keiser took the first chance of the game with Mifumi Sasanuma taking a shot 54 seconds into the game that was corralled by the Georgia Gwinnett goalie, Matilda Johansson.
  • The Seahawks tallied two more shots in the next three minutes but neither showed much threat. 
  • Georgia Gwinnett had their first chance after five minutes but the long distance shot sailed wide.
  • The best chance of the half for the Grizzlies came on a through-pass in the 24th minute but Kyara Armenta was not able to get a good leg to it.
  • Keiser continued to pressure the GGC defense, earning all five corners given in the first half.
  • Oline Sundgot fired the final chance of the opening 45 minutes but Johansson held strong to finish the half.
  • In the 60th minute, Julia Forslund found a ball at her feet following a corner but her shot was blocked in the box as play continued.
  • Keiser continued to pepper the Georgia Gwinnett defense through the final minutes, however the Grizzlies would clear each opportunity as far as they could kick it.
  • The game would end after a tactical foul from Georgia Little, who prevented any last minute opportunity for GGC.

Game Notes
  • Keiser moved to 14-3-2 all-time in season openers with the draw.
  • Eight players from the Seahawks made their debut on Saturday afternoon.
  • Zara Board earned her first win and shutout in net for KU with three saves on the day.
  • KU outshot GGC 17-6 overall, 6-3 on goal.
  • Keiser also earned nine more corners than the Grizzlies with a 10-1 final count
  • Nine different Seahawks managed a shot, four having at least one on target.
