How it Happened

The Seahawks went to work right out of the gate and began the match with a 4-0 scoring run that fired up the Seahawk faithful in the SLC. Another 4-0 run later in the set would force a Warner timeout. The Royals rallied to pull within seven points, but the Seahawks kept their offensive production going and closed out the set with a Brooklynn Slater kill. The second set began with a lightning-fast 7-2 run that forced another Royal timeout. A 7-0 run after a Warner kill gave Keiser an even bigger lead. A 4-0 run appeared to put the set out of Warner's reach, but a strong rally from the Royals, helped along by a 5-0 run, put Keiser in some trouble. In a key moment when the set was tied 24-24, two Keiser blocks awarded the set to KU. The final set was an even affair, with little separation between the two teams early on. After Keiser took a 14-10 lead, the Seahawks caught fire down the stretch and used a 4-0 run to take an 18-12 advantage that prompted a Warner timeout. After two Warner points, the Seahawks strung another 4-0 run together to take a decisive lead, and the match later came to an end on a Frederica Silva service ace.
