Women's Tennis Continues Strong Run of Play Through Day Two of ITA Regionals

Keiser women's tennis fought through two more rounds of singles and a round of doubles on Friday at the ITA Regionals in Boca Raton, Fla. The ladies finished 6-3 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles on the day.

It was an all-or-nothing round of 16 to begin the day with Violet Apisah, Katie Visnevscaia, and Vanja Vidanovic all shutting out their opponents with 6-0, 6-0 results. The Seahawks did suffer their first defeats of the tournament as Florencia Araya and Yeva Kononovich fell in round of 16 play. Apisah and Isabella Perez Flores disposed of their counterparts in the quarterfinals while an all-Keiser matchup of Visnevscaia and Vidanovic went the way of the newcomer, with Visnevscaia advancing to the semis. In the lone doubles round, Apisah and Vidanovic won 8-3, while Perez Flores and Kononovich advanced with an 8-6 win.

Coach's Corner
Head Coach Daniel Finn said, "Tough conditions today. Another really hot day, and then when you have rain delays and have to wait around with interruptions in the middle of a match against quality competition, it makes for a challenging day. I thought the girls, for the most part, did a great job keeping their composure, controlling what they could, and just focusing on executing in the moments that were there. Obviously, now it's a late night, so we've got to do everything we can to recover and get ready for another tough day tomorrow."
