The KU volleyball team went 1-1 this morning on the first day of the TMU Invitational. The Seahawks took down Brenau in three sets, and fell to host institution Truett McConnell in five sets. The Seahawks are now 11-4 on the season.

The Seahawks began the day by shaking off a slow start, and rallying to take the lead after Brenau went up 6-1. The two squads locked up in set one, but the Seahawks took a 19-17 lead, and closed out the set with a 3-0 run. In the second set, KU took a 19-11 lead, but a furious 6-0 run from Brenau put the Tigers back in the game. After two Keiser points, a 6-1 Brenau run put the Seahawks in danger of dropping the set. However, the Seahawks regained their composure, and scored three unanswered points to secure the set. During the final set, KU jumped to a 8-3 lead and forced an early Tiger timeout. Following the break, the Seahawks utilized three separate 3-0 runs to maintain space on the scoreboard, and closed out the set 25-15, and the match 3-0.

Keiser kept their momentum going in the second match of the day, and began the first set on a 5-0 run. Later in the set while leading 18-13, the Seahawks put a 5-0 run together, and eventually took the set 25-19. The following set saw KU take a 16-9 lead, and eventually the 'Hawks won the set 25-17. In the third set, the Bears began to claw back into the match, and held a 16-11 lead midway through the frame. Despite a late 3-0 run for Keiser, TMU took the set. The fourth set went to the host school as well, thanks to four separate scoring runs for Truett McConnell of three unanswered points or more. In the final set, each team traded blows in a tightly fought affair that featured six lead changes. Though the Seahawks nearly escaped with the win, the Bears went on a 3-0 run to end the set, and the match.

The Seahawks will face St. Andrews and Cumberlands (Ky.) tomorrow morning.
