The Keiser volleyball team picked up two wins today on the first day of the Phoenix Classic, hosted by the University of Cumberland. The Seahawks took down Cumberland in four sets, and followed with a three set sweep of Fisk.

The Seahawks were able to build a quick lead in the first game of the day, beginning the first set on a 6-1 run to force an early CU timeout. After that, Keiser kept its offensive output high, and took the set 25-20 after fending off a Phoenix scoring rally. In the second set, it was Cumberland that took the early lead, and opened the set on a 9-0 scoring run. The Seahawks fought hard to even the score, going on an impressive 6-0 run to tie the set at 13-13 and force a Cumberland timeout. The set was evenly played the rest of the way, but the Phoenix were able to score the 25th point of the set and even the match score 1-1. After the second set, Keiser regrouped came out attacking in the third set, and held a 21-17 lead before a Cumberland timeout. The Phoenix fought to bring the score to 23-20, but Keiser held the lead and took the final two points. In the final set, each team traded blows until Keiser pulled ahead with a 5-1 scoring run that began when the score read 16-12. From there, the Seahawks closed out the match.
- Brooklynn Slater logged 18 kills for the second time this season.

Keiser got its second victory of the day in a very solid all-around performance versus Fisk. Set one began with KU jumping out to a 9-2 lead, and eventually holding a 17-12 lead before a Fisk timeout. After the break, Keiser went right back to work and ended the set on an 8-2 run. In the second set the Seahawks began with another hot start, and built up to a 15-6 lead. After a 4-0 run by the Bulldogs, the Seahawks rattled off a 4-0 run of their own, and withstood a 6-1 Fisk rally to secure the set. The final set saw Fisk starting quickly, and taking a 5-4 lead. When the game was tied 6-6, Bulldog attacking errors gave Keiser a window of opportunity, and the Seahawks jumped out to a 24-12 lead with a dominant scoring run. A
Sydney Wattles kill served as the final point, and the match ended 3-0 in favor of the Seahawks.
