No. 1 Women's Tennis

No. 1 Women's Tennis Faces First Sun Conference Opponent on Wednesday in No. 13 St. Thomas

One week removed from a dramatic win over Division II, No. 2 Nova Southeastern, the No. 1 ranked Keiser University women's tennis team will begin their conference season with No. 13 St. Thomas on the road in Miami Gardens with first serve scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
 
About the Seahawks
  • Keiser sports a 7-1 record on the year after defeating DII, No. 2 Nova Southeastern last week, 4-3.
  • With the win, the Seahawks have now claimed wins over the No. 1, 2. and 3 ranked teams in Division II.
  • Yvette Schmucker won the marathon match against the Sharks in a match lasting nearly three hours with the final score going her way, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(5).

Coach's Corner
Head Coach Daniel Finn said, "Should be a good one tomorrow. St. Thomas always has a good team and will bring a rowdy atmosphere. We know we gotta bring our best tomorrow and be locked in. Most importantly, we need to make sure we come out focused, start fast, and set the tone early."

Series Record: Keiser leads the series against St. Thomas, 19-2. winning the 13 straight.
Last Meeting: The Seahawks defeated the Bobcats 6-1 on March 5, 2022.
Scouting the Bobcats: STU will enter Wednesday's conference opener with a perfect 7-0 record to begin the year. The No. 13 ranked Bobcats already racked up three ranked wins this season over No. 11 Lindsey Wilson, No. 19 Indiana Tech, and most recently, No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan. Returning from a strong season last year, Lia Pena leads the Bobcats this season on court one in both singles and doubles play.
