KU Women's Basketball Takes Down Thomas at Home, 74-53

The Keiser women's basketball team used a strong third quarter, outscoring the Night Hawks, 29-10, as the Seahawks improved to 4-0 at home this season with a 74-53 win over Thomas (Ga.) on Saturday night.

The Seahawks were led by Elise Ellison, who posted 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go along with six boards. Also reaching double-figures in scoring was Elliana Schaefer (15), Halle Traylor (14), and Taylor Jones (10). Traylor notched team-highs in assists (5) and rebounds (7). Schaefer tallied a career-high six steals in the game.

First Quarter
Keiser 18, Thomas 7
  • The Nighthawks scored the first three points of the game, before an Elliana Schaefer triple evened the score. 
  • Keiser went on a 6-0 run from there, with four points from Elise Ellison. 
  • After four Nighthawk points, KU ended the quarter with a 7-0 run. 

Second Quarter
Keiser 33, Thomas 25
  • Thomas opened the quarter with a three pointer (9:15).
  • The two squads traded buckets back and forth, before Taylor Jones contributed four points to a 6-0 Keiser run. 
  • With 11 seconds left in the half, Halle Traylor knocked down two free throws to give Keiser an eight point halftime lead. 

Third Quarter
Keiser 60, Thomas 35
  • An Elise Ellison steal turned into a fastbreak layup for Halle Traylor (9:38).
  • KU went on an 8-0 run starting with 5:20 remaining in the quarter, propelled by six points from Mimmi Hahne. 
  • The Seahawks closed out the quarter on a 9-2 scoring run.

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 74, Thomas 53
  • Mimmi Hahne got a layup to go with 9:03 on the clock for the team's largest lead (29). 
  • The Seahawks maintained its lead of 20-or-more points for much of the fourth en route to the teams fourth straight home win.

  • With the win, Keiser moves to 6-4 on the season.
  • The Seahawks improved to 16-7 all-time versus the Night Hawks.
  • The win marked the Seahawks fifth straight over the Night Hawks.
  • Elise Ellison led all Seahawks with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
