The Keiser women's basketball team fell to the Brewton-Parker Barons, 93-87 (2OT) on Monday evening. The Barons took advantage of 23 Keiser turnovers, resulting in 22 points for BPC to come away with the victory.

The Seahawks were led by Julia Fitzwater, who posted 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor, including six for downtown. Junior Halle Traylor added 18 points to go along with nine rebounds and a team-high five assists. Traylor hit a key 3-pointer as time expired in overtime number one. Elise Ellison notched her fourth double-double of the season, recording 15 points and a team-best 12 rebounds. Kyra Long, who sent the game to overtime on a game-tying shot with two seconds left in regulation, finished the night with 15 points and seven rebounds versus the Barons.

First Quarter
Keiser 22, Brewton-Parker 17
  • The Seahawks opened the game with an 8-0 run.
  • Halle Traylor hit her first 3-pointer of the night to give Keiser the eight-point lead with 8:07 on the game clock.
  • Julia Fitzwater gave Keiser an 11-2 advantage with 7:15 on the game clock, hitting her second triple of the quarter.
  • After the Seahawks took a 10-point lead (12-2), BPC chipped away at the KU lead with a 9-2 run, 14-11.
  • Keiser maintained its lead with a five-point advantage after 10 minutes of action. 

Second Quarter
Keiser 43, Brewton-Parker 38
  • A 13-6 run by the Barons erased the Keiser lead as BPC led, 30-28, with 6:10 left in the second.
  • Trailing by four, 32-28, the Seahawks scored back-to-back buckets to regain the lead (33-32) as Taylor Jones converted a layup (4:39) and Fitzwater drained a three (4:14).
  • The Seahawks continued their run, capping off an 11-0 run, 39-32 (2:50).

Third Quarter
Brewton-Parker 55, Keiser 53
  • The Barons cut into the Keiser lead, 47-45, with a 7-4 run to start the half.
  • A jumper by BPC by Samerria Bryant with 2:47 left in the quarter gave the Barons a 52-51 edge.
  • Traylor hit a pair of free throws as Keiser regained the lead, 53-52 (00:52).
  • The Barons converted the final bucket of the quarter with an A'Aliyah Clay 3-pointer, 55-53.

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 68, Brewton-Parker 68
  • The Barons held a seven-point lead with 1:34 left to play.
  • The Seahawks used a 6-0 run as Keiser was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line over a span of 1:09.
  • Madison Evans gave BPC a 68-66 lead, making 1-of-2 from the charity stripe with 00:07 seconds left in regulation.
  • Kyra Long hit the game-tying shot with two seconds left to play.

Overtime
First Overtime 
  • BPC held a two-point edge with nine seconds left, 77-75.
  • Traylor made 1-of-2 from the free-throw line to make it a one-point game, 77-76.
  • Forced to send the Barons to the line, Keiser trailed BPC, 79-76 with seven seconds remaining.
  • Traylor tied the game with a 3-point buzzer-beater, sending the contest to double overtime.
Second Overtime 
  • The Barons used a 9-0 run to take an 88-81 lead with 1:38 on the game clock.
  • BPC was able to hold on to their lead, handing the Seahawks a 93-87 loss.

  • With the loss, Keiser drops to 5-4 on the season.
  • The Seahawks move to 2-1 all-time versus the Barons.
  • Monday marked the first overtime game of the season for the Seahawks and the first double overtime contest since an 81-78 2OT win at St. Thomas on January 29, 2022.
