Facing one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NAIA, Keiser men's basketball responded with one of their best defensive efforts of the season, downing Brescia 86-60 at home on Saturday. Having scored 105 the previous night, the Bearcats were averaging just under 88 points per game coming into the week. The Seahawks were led by
Vincent Miszkiewicz who notched his 12th double-double of the year with 20 points and 16 rebounds.
Brandon Farmer helped out with 12 boards and a 7-of-8 showing from the free-throw line.
Keiser will enjoy their New Year's activities before opening conference play at home on Saturday, January 6. Tipoff from the Student Life Center in West Palm Beach, Fla. is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
Calvin Sirmans sank a three-pointer from the corner to put Keiser up nine with 5:53 left in the first half.
Keiser 37, Brescia 26
- Vincent Miszkiewicz opened the game with six of the first 11 points for the Seahawks as KU jumped out to a five-point lead.
- Brescia's Taeron Hogg got going after the first break scoring his tenth point of the contest with the Seahawks still in front 19-16 with 9:19 left in the half.
- Keiser took control of the next three and a half minutes capped by a Calvin Sirmans three-pointer in the corner to put KU up 29-20.
- Miszkiewicz grabbed his 12th double-double at the 1:46 mark as the Seahawks maintained the momentum into the break, leading 37-26.
Keiser 86, Brescia 60
- The first five minutes of the second half had five different scorers as Tylar Cerez increased the lead to 47-32 for KU.
- Keiser went 6-of-7 over the next three minutes capped by a Nirobi Peeler Jr. three-pointer to push the lead to 14 points.
- The Seahawks would control pace the of the game from there, outscoring the Bearcats 17-10 over the next six minutes.
- Noah Salcedo would come in and score the final points for the Seahawks on the night as they cruised to an 86-60 win.
