Keiser Women's Basketball Falls 77-67 at Reinhardt

Keiser women's basketball had a strong performance but gave way late to the Reinhardt Eagles this afternoon. The Seahawks battled all the way through and held the lead at certain points, but the Eagles took the lead in the fourth quarter and pulled away late to stay undefeated.

With the score tied 61-61, the Eagles went on a 14-2 run that gave Reinhardt a lead for the remainder of the game. 
 
How it Happened


First Quarter
Keiser 22, Reinhardt 14
  • Reinhardt found some space early and took a 9-2 lead three minutes into the game. 
  • The Seahawks answered when trailing 12-7, going on a fiery 14-0 run keyed by eight points from Elliana Schaefer. 

Second Quarter
Keiser 31, Reinhardt 33
  • KU held a lead to open the second quarter, but a 13-3 run by the home team put Reinhardt back in the lead. 
  • A layup by Elliana Schaefer tied the game 27-27 with 2:48 on the clock. 
  • RU pulled back in front with a free throw and a three pointer. 
  • The two squads fought evenly for the remaining minutes , and a layup by Zariah Jenkins with 15 seconds remaining on the board to cut the deficit to two going into the locker room. 

Third Quarter
Keiser 55, Reinhardt 54
  • With 8:16 remaining in the quarter, Keiser tied the game with an Elise Ellison layup. 
  • Reinhardt retook the lead 30 seconds later, and for most of the quarter, the Seahawks chased the Eagles, never trailing by more than five points.  
  • Toward the end of the quarter, the 'Hawks put together a 7-0 run to reclaim the lead, with the points scored by Schaefer and Taylor Jones. 

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 67, Reinhardt 77
  • The Seahawks entered the fourth quarter with the lead, but the Eagles battled back and tied the game 59-59, and then 61-61. 
  • At that point, Reinhardt engineered a 14-2 run that was eventually broken with two free throws from Jenkins. 
  • A KU turnover gave the ball to Reinhardt with 1:02 left in the game, and an Eagles layup stretched their lead to 77-63.
  • The Seahawks got two more layups to go, but the home team eventually prevailed 77-67. 
 


Game Notes

  • With the win, Keiser drops to 5-3 on the season. 
  • Saturday marked the first meeting all-time between the two teams.
  • With the loss, Keiser is now 58-64 all-time versus first-time opponents
  • Elliana Schaefer led all Seahawks with 14 points.
  • Julia Fitzwater collected 10 rebounds. 
  • Halle Traylor went 8-10 from the free throw line. 
  • The Seahawks got 32 points in the paint, and 22 off the bench.
