Keiser Women's Basketball Falls at Home to Doane

Doane Starters:  Macy Holtz (G), Libby Trausch (G), Mak Hatcliff (G), Rylie Rice (G), Kaylee Klover (F).

The Keiser women's basketball team fell to the Doane Tigers this afternoon at the Student Life Center. The Seahawks scored 80+ points for the sixth time this season, but were unable to overcome 40 points from Doane's Mak Hatcliff.

A three pointer by Doane gave the Tigers a 16-point lead with 7:33 remaining in the third quarter. 
 
How it Happened


First Quarter
Keiser 20, Doane 23
  • Elise Ellison scored the first points of the day with a layup on a Halle Traylor assist. 
  • The two squads traded baskets evenly and stayed within one point of each other until back-to-back threes for the Tigers gave them a six point lead.
  • Julia Fitzwater drained a three pointer at the end of the quarter to bring the Seahawks to within three. 

Second Quarter
Keiser 43, Doane 53
  • The Tigers took a six point lead on a three pointer (7:32)
  • A triple from Elliana Schaefer cut the lead down to 32-29 after a short KU scoring run. 
  • Doane went on a 7-0 run to take a 10 point advantage, then later extended the lead to 12.
  • Halle Traylor was fouled as the half expired, and sank both free throws to cut Doane's lead back to 10.

Third Quarter
Keiser 63, Doane 72
  • Doane was hot out of the gate and took a 16 point lead with 7:33 on the clock to force a Keiser timeout. 
  • Keiser regrouped and put together a 13-2 run keyed by six points from Taylor Jones. 
  • After a made jumper, the Tigers got a layup to go at the end of the quarter to bring the score to 72-63. 

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 82, Doane 99
  • Doane stretched their lead with a 6-2 run with 6:39 on the board. 
  • Doane's Mak Hatcliff scored her 38th point of the game on a layup that brought the Tiger lead to 94-80. 
  • A bucket by Zariah Jenkins broke the Tigers scoring run. 
  • KU turned the ball over, and the Tigers scored in transition to bring their lead to 97-82. 
  • The Tigers scored the final basket of the game with 35 seconds remaining. 
 


Game Notes

  • With the loss, Keiser moves to 6-6 on the season.
  • Five Seahawks reached double-figures, led by Elliana Schaefer's 17 points.
  • Elise Ellison led the Seahawks with six assists.
  • Julia Fitzwater went 4-7 from beyond the arc. 
  • The Seahawks turned the ball over 10 times, resulting in 13 points for Doane. 
  • Keiser got 24 points off the bench.
  • The loss marked the second home defeat of the season for Keiser.
