Keiser men's basketball got off to a slow start on day two of the SUN/SSAC Challenge in Montgomery, Alabama, trailing by as much as 15 with nine minutes remaining. The Seahawks would crawl all the way back and take the lead with 12 seconds left, but the Roadrunners would answer with the final shot of the game falling their way.
Justin Nichelson led the way for Keiser with 21 points while
Vincent Miszkiewicz recorded his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
The Seahawks will have a week to rest before traveling back to Montgomery for the Jimmy Faulkner Classic where they will face Brewton-Parker on Friday, November 10, and Faulkner on Saturday, November 11.
A block from
Calvin Sirmans at the 10:32 mark gave the Seahawks energy to get back in the game, but the Roadrunners tallied the final basket of the night with four seconds remaining to take the victory.
Dalton State 36, Keiser 26
- The two sides got off to an even start before Brandon Farmer hit from deep to give Keiser an early 7-5 lead.
- Dalton State responded with a 7-0 run before three free throws from Seryree Lewis and Calvin Sirmans cut the Roadrunner lead to 12-10 at the media timeout with 12:00 on the clock.
- The Roadrunners continued their pressure with another 7-0 run before Tyler Poindexter stopped the bleeding at the 9:32 mark.
- The lead for Dalton State would continue to extend with a 13-6 run capped by an Ellis Lee three-pointer with 3:47 to play in the half.
- Keiser took the momentum into the half with a last-second bucket from Justin Nichelson that cut the lead down to 36-26.
Keiser 87, Dalton State 73
- The Seahawks had the advantage in the early parts of the second half, winning the 6-5 run through the first four minutes.
- Dalton State would counter with an 11-7 run before Sirmons met Allon Johnson at the rim for a 5-foot-8 on 6-foot-7 rejection with 10:32 on the clock.
- The block sparked a 12-4 run for the Seahawks as they cut the lead to 56-51 with just under seven minutes to play.
- With 2:09 left in regulation, Vincent Miszkiewicz gave Keiser their first lead since 16:52 in the first at 68-67.
- A tip-in by Harrison Eghan with 1:38 left gave Dalton State the lead before Nichelson converted a layup with 12 seconds to play.
- With four seconds left, Donavan Miller hit the tough layup and Keiser would not be able to get a final shot off with the remaining time.

- Keiser falls to 2-1 on the year with the loss and ends the SSAC/SUN Challenge with a 1-1 record.
