Keiser men's basketball fought through another tough matchup away from home on Friday afternoon, falling to Brewton-Parker 72-65 at the Gillis Gymnasium in Mount Vernon, Ga. Vincent Miszkiewicz was once again a threat all night for Keiser with his fourth double-double in as many games. Tyler Poindexter led the scoring effort for the Seahawks with 20 points, leading all scorers in the game.

Keiser will get a short rest as they travel through the night back to Montgomery, Ala. to play (rv) Faulkner on Saturday, November 11, at 7:00 p.m.

Brewton-Parker would begin to pull away with just under 12 minutes to play, scoring the next 16-of-19 points to the 4:19 mark.
 
 
How it Happened


First Half
Brewton-Parker 37, Keiser 35
  • The two sides were scoreless through the first two minutes before Brewton-Parker kicked off a 9-6 run lasting to the 15-minute mark.
  • Keiser took the lead on back-to-back three-pointers from Tyler Poindexter which started a 15-4 run for the Seahawks.
  • The Barons came back to tie the game with 9:26 left as the score was equal at 20-20.
  • The Seahawks fought back for a 10-4 run before three consecutive field goals for BPC left the game all square again at 30-30 with 3:31 remaining.
  • Brewton-Parker ended the half with a 7-3 run before a couple of Vincent Miszkiewicz free throws left the Seahawks down by two at the break, 35-37.
  • Miszkiewicz was already dominating the boards by halftime with 14 to his name.

Second Half
Brewton-Parker 72, Keiser 65
  • The second half had much more scoring at the start with Keiser having a 5-4 advantage in the run through the first minute and 10 seconds.
  • The Seahawks would continue to press with back-to-back threes from Justin Nichelson and Poindexter to open a 46-41 lead with just under 17 minutes to play.
  • Brewton-Parker climbed back into the game over the next five minutes, eventually tying the game at 50-50 with 11:41 showing.
  • Keiser would go one for their next 11 as the Barons began to pull away, holding a 64-53 lead with 4:19 on the clock.
  • Nichelson and Poindexter would hit two consecutive treys before a dunk from Grant Sanders would be the dagger for Brewton-Parker with 42 seconds left.
  • Poindexter would hit again with seven seconds left, but the Barons closed out the game, going 6-of-10 from the line and taking the win, 72-65.
