The Keiser women's basketball team dropped its first game of the season, falling to the Mobile (Ala.) Rams, 87-69, on Thursday, November 2. The contest was the first of this year's SUN/SSAC Crossover Challenge as the Seahawks look to take on Stillman College tomorrow. 

The Seahawks had three players score in double-figures in Elise Ellison (11), Kyra Long (11), and Mimmi Hahne (15). Ellison also collected 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.

How it Happened


First Quarter

Keiser 21, Mobile (Ala.) 14
  • Mobile scored the first points of the game with a layup by Erica Jones (9:46).
  • Julia Fitzwater tied the game, 2-2, with Keiser's first bucket of the contest (8:08).
  • Alanna Donaldson pushed the Rams lead to 8-5 with a made jumper at the 5:47 mark.
  • A Braylee McMath layup extended Mobile's lead to five, 10-5, with 5:07 left in the first.
  • Back-to-back buckets by Taylor Jones cut the deficit to 10-9 with 2:50 on the game clock.
  • The Seahawks took the lead on a made jumper by Zariah Jenkins, 13-12, on a pass from Elliana Schaefer (1:20).
  • A three-point play by Mimmi Hahne extended the Keiser lead to four, 16-12.
  • A three-pointer by Fitzwater with 10 seconds on the clock gave the Seahawks a 21-14 lead after one.

Second Quarter

Mobile 37, Keiser 34
  • Halle Traylor converted a pair of free throws to give Keiser a seven-point lead, 21-14 (9:16).
  • An 8-0 run by the Rams gave Mobile (Ala.) the lead, 22-21, with 6:40 left in the half.
  • Kyra Long tied the game a 30-all with a 3-pointer late in the quarter.
  • The Rams outscored the Seahawks 7-4 to close out the half, 37-34.

Third Quarter

Mobile (Ala.) 61, Keiser 48
  • Five straight points by UM's Alanna Donaldson pushed the Rams lead to eight, 42-34.
  • After Jones cut the Rams' lead to six (50-44) on a pair of made free throws, Mobile used a 9-0 run to extend the advantage to 15, 59-44 (3:01).

Fourth Quarter

Mobile (Ala.) 87, Keiser 69
  • The Rams maintained a double-digit lead for the remaining 10 minutes of action, handing Keiser its first loss of the season.

  • The Seahawks move to 1-1 all-time versus Mobile (Ala.).
