Women's Tennis Closes Out Nova Shark Bite Invite on Sunday

Box Score Keiser women's tennis wrapped up their weekend in Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday with doubles matches against No. 28 Florida Southern and singles against No. 2 Nova Southeastern. The ladies went 1-2 in doubles action and 5-1 in singles.

Doubles action started the day with two wins for the Mocs. Ronja Scheuermann and Jolie Miller bested Isabella Perez Flores and Yeva Kononovych on court two, 6-3, before Violet Apisah and Vanja Vidanovic fell on court one to Laia Pasini and Beatriz Costa, 6-4. Singles would start slow for KU with Kononovych and Apisah falling early. Perez Flores would capture a win on court three over Freya Davies before the Sharks would win on court five. Vidanovic ended the weekend with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court two over Lian Benedejcic.

Coach's Corner

Head Coach Daniel Finn said, "I thought the girls did a pretty good job during the tournament as a whole. However, this morning we didn't start very well when it came to doubles. The benefit of it just being a hidden duel was that it was a good opportunity to open a few eyes on how we needed to play, and I do believe that several of them started to see the how's and why's of certain things in doubles. Singles-wise, this was easily the toughest day competition-wise, playing Nova. Having to play down a player with Katie being sick today obviously made some stuff a little bit tougher, but I was happy to see how both Isa and Vanja responded, playing higher in the lineup and performing well. Overall, this is a great event for us in the fall and really helps the players see what the spring season's going to look like. This is easily one of my favorite formats for a fall event, and it was great timing to help prepare both Violet and Vanja and get them in the match rhythm ahead of the NCAA nationals this week in California. The main thing now for preparation ahead of this week is to try to rest as much as we can while traveling, get on out to the facility, and get a feel for everything ahead of Wednesday's match."
