Pousette Nets Two as No. 17 Women's Soccer Bests No. 12 Southeastern, 2-1

After trailing early in the game, Olivia Pousette tied the game in the first half and scored a second-half winner to lead the Keiser women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over No. 12 Southeastern on Wednesday. The Seahawks were once again dominant throughout the game, outshooting the Fire 23-4 in the contest.

How it Happened
  • As always, Keiser was on the front foot early with Emilia Nilsson getting a shot off inside the six-yard box that was saved in the sixth minute.
  • In the 12th minute, the ball fell to Madelyn Davidson's foot who rocketed a shot into the upper left corner of the net to make it 1-0 SEU.
  • Nilsson would take another chance in the 24th minute, but the shot would fly wide of the net.
  • In the 33rd minute, Georgia Little broke free down the line and sent in a cross that found Olivia Pousette whose shot bounced off the right post and in for the equalizer.
  • Keiser was back on the attack immediately after the kickoff with Hana Masuko ripping a shot from outside the box that forced a save out of the Fire goalie.
  • A free kick was awarded to the Seahawks in the 36th minute from just under 30 minutes out. Angelina Coelho stepped up to take the shot and nearly scored, but a late save from Micaela Owen kept the game level.
  • The two sides would go to the half tied, but KU having the clear shot advantage at 13-2.
  • Ariadna Lozano opened the second half with two shots for the Fire, but neither showed a true threat to the Seahawks' keeper.
  • Following a corner from Little in the 63rd minute, Julia Forslund tried a volley in the box that was saved before Nilsson put forth an effort that was also saved.
  • Sofie Sørum let a shot fly in the 72nd minute that flew by everyone but the keeper as the Seahawks continued to attack.
  • Finally, in the 76th minute, Marthe Taugbøl played a long pass to the top of the box where Pousette would turn and shoot under the outstretched keeper to put KU in front 2-1.
  • The two sides would jostle for possession for the remaining 14 minutes of the game with Keiser doing just enough to hang on for the 2-1 win.

Game Notes
  • The Seahawks improved to 9-4-2 with the win and, for now, sit tied for third in the Sun Conference standings at 6-3-2.
  • Keiser improves to 16-3-4 all-time against Southeastern and 11-1-1 at home.
  • With her two goals, Pousette moves into a tie for third with five goals on the year.
  • Little continues to add more assists to her name as she grabbed number 10 of the year on the first goal.
  • Taugbøl and Adam each added an assist in the game for the Seahawks.
  • Zara Board registered two saves in the game, picking up her seventh win of the season.
  • Keiser extended their streak of outshooting their opponents to twelve games in a row with a 23-4 showing against SEU.
