No. 8 Football Dominates Warner in Highest Scoring Game in School History, 69-6

The No. 8-ranked Keiser football team made history on Saturday, scoring the most points in program history as the Seahawks dominated the Warner Royals, 69-6.  Gaining 462 yards while holding the Royals to just 165, the Seahawks improved to 3-0 in Sun Conference play this season and 9-0 as a member of the SUN all-time. 

The Seahawks scored eight touchdowns and converted four field goals in the record-setting performance. Wendol Philord got things started with the first kick return for a touchdown of his Keiser career, taking the opening kick 82 yards for the score. Seven different Seahawks scored touchdowns in the game.

It marked Keiser's seventh straight win over the Royals as the Seahawks have now outscored Warner, 355-60, all-time.
 
 
 

First Quarter

Keiser 24, Warner 0
  • The Seahawks wasted no time getting on the board as Wendol Philord took the opening kick 82 yards for the touchdown.
  • The extra-point attempt by Luke Creber was good as KU led, 7-0 with 14:47 left in the first.
  • On Keiser's next drive, Bryce Veasley connected with Louis Averhart III for a 12-yard touchdown, giving the Seahawks a 14-0 lead (11:06).
  • Keiser found the endzone on its third consecutive possession as Jaden Meizinger recorded a two-yard touchdown run with 6:23 on the game clock, 21-0.
  • Creber converted the first of his four made field goal attempts with a 25-yarder with 00:27 left in the quarter (24-0).

Second Quarter

Keiser 38, Warner 0
  • With 6:55 left in the first half, Keiser extended its lead on a 10-yard touchdown run by Meizinger, 31-0.
  • On the ensuing drive, linebacker Jaelin Willis picked off a pass by Xavier Holliday and returned it 26 yards to the Warner 20-yard line.
  • That turnover resulted in a 20-yard touchdown pass from Veasley to Refeno Vangates.
  • Following the made extra point, KU led 38-0 with 5:19 left in the half.
  • Keiser looked to extend its lead following a fumble recovery by Louis Lubin III on a field goal attempt by the Royals. A botched snap resulted in Lubin gaining possession of the loose ball at the Warner 40-yard line with 1:57 on the game clock.
  • However, WU's Isaiah Alcime picked off a pass by Veasley to end the Keiser threat. 

Third Quarter

Keiser 46, Warner 6
  • The Seahawks added two points with a safety following a blocked punt in the endzone by Brooks Gsell (13:25).
  • On the Seahawks next possession, Kesier drove 41 yards in seven plays as Creber kicked a 23-yard field goal to make it a 43-0 game (10:07).
  • The Royals got on the board with a three-yard touchdown run by Kyle Metiam.
  • With the missed extra-attempt, the Seahawks led 43-6 with 6:18 remaining in the third.

Fourth Quarter

Keiser 69, Warner 6
  • Creber kicked another field goal, converting a 36-yard attempt to extend KU's lead, 49-6 (14:15).
  • The Keiser defense took the ball away following a forced fumble by Tristan Vann with 7:44 on the game clock. The fumble was recovered by Jalen Housey, giving the Seahawks the ball on their own 29-yard line.
  • Following the turnover, the Seahawks drove 71 yards in four plays, reaching the endzone again as Dillion Simon rushed for 18 yards and the score, 56-6 (5:22).
  • On Warner's next possession, the Royals were stopped and forced to punt from their own 32-yard line.
  • A bad snap over the punter's head landed in the endzone where Tommie Battle IV recovered the ball to record another score for the Seahawks, 
  • After the made extra-point by Nico Cavanillas, Keiser led, 63-6, with 4:21 left in the game.
  • On the Sehawks' final possession, running back Beau Beard sampered 43 yards as time expired to score the first touchdown of his Keiser career, 69-6.

  • The win moves the Seahawks to 47-15 all-time.
  • Saturday marked the seventh meeting all-time between the two teams with the Seahawks improving to 7-0 all-time versus the Royals.
  • The 69 points scored by the Seahawks were the most in program history. 
  • With the win, Keiser remains perfect in Sun Conference play all-time (9-0).
  • With the win, the Seahawks move to 29-3 all-time in conference play.
  • The win also improves Keiser to 24-10 all-time in road games.
  • Keiser is 32-8 all-time versus unranked opponents.
  • Keiser improves to 21-2 all-time during the month of October.
  • The Seahawks scored two non-offensive touchdowns on Saturday to increase their season total to three.
