Men's Basketball's Comeback Falls Short Against Thomas on the Road

The Keiser men's basketball team fell in a tight contest against Thomas on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks were able to shoot around their averages, but a hot-shooting Night Hawks squad proved just too much.

Keiser got close multiple times but a three-pointer from Keon Williams with 1:54 on the clock put the Night Hawks up six.
 
 
How it Happened


First Half
Thomas 34, Keiser 29
  • Thomas began the game with a 7-2 run as Tim Williamson scored the first five points of the contest.
  • A three-pointer by Brandon Younger followed by a Core'von Lott jumper had the game tied at 7-7 with 14:16 on the close.
  • The Night Hawks used the next two minutes to generate an 8-0 run that extended their lead.
  • Both sides traded baskets before back-to-back buckets from Justin Tucker put the Seahawks within four with 8:21 left in the half.
  • Thomas followed with a 10-2 run of their own to take a 30-18 lead as Jordan Booker began to heat up for TU.
  • Keiser used a strong 11-2 run to end the half before Booker got his 11th point of the game with four seconds left in the half to leave Thomas with a 34-29 lead at the half.

Second Half
Thomas 82, Keiser 77
  • Keiser got off to a quick start in the second half, narrowing the deficit to one point on two occasions.
  • Following a three-pointer from the Night Hawks, Younger hit a jumper and three free throws to give Keiser their first lead of the game with 16:29 left in the game.
  • The Seahawks would hold onto the lead until another Booker three-pointer put Thomas back in front 50-48 with 12:27 on the clock.
  • Two more threes would cap a 14-4 Night Hawks run that saw them leading 58-52.
  • KU would have an answer with back-to-back threes from Shaquille Harris and Christian Miller-Cardwell sparking an 8-0 run for Keiser that put them back in front 60-58.
  • The Night Hawks began to pull away from there as a 9-0 scoring run put them ahead 67-60 with just under five minutes left in the game.
  • Keiser would get the chances but a three-pointer from Keon Williams put TU up six with 1:54 showing.
  • Thomas went on to go 6-of-6 from the free-throw line down the stretch, securing the 82-77 win.
