No. 1 women's soccer put together another dominant performance in front of their home crowd on Tuesday with a 5-0 win over Middle Georgia State.
Chelsie Hay and
Ramona Kannady both recorded two goals in the contest en route to the win.
- In the 11th minute, Ramona Kannady got on the board when Ayaka Matsumaru unselfishly passed up the one-on-one opportunity to give Kannady the easy shot on the open net.
- Kannady doubled her advantage and the Keiser lead in the 29th minute on a beautiful pass from Viki Adam that put her in a spot to beat the keeper and make it 2-0 in favor of KU.
- Three minutes later Georgia Little found Kyoka Koshijima in the box with a ground cross that Koshijima was able to slide in and hit into the net and give the Seahawks a 3-0 lead.
- Keiser would head into the half with an 11-2 shot advantage, not allowing the Knights a shot on goal.
- Early in the second half, the Seahawks would have another chance to score as Koshijima would put a header towards net, but it would bounce off the crossbar and out of play.
- The Seahawks would continue their attack over the next 30 minutes, shooting eight shots toward the Knights'Â keeper.
- Chelsie Hay would break through in the 82nd minute with a right-footed shot into the left side of the net after a long run and cross from Kannady to make it 4-0 in favor of Keiser.
- A handball in the box in the 88th minute would allow the Seahawks another chance to score. Hay would step up and finish strong to give KU a 5-0 win.
- The Seahawks earned their seventh shutout of the season to improve to 9-0-1 on the season.
- Keiser now averages 3.80 goals per game, scoring more than two goals in seven games.
- Kannady is back within one goal of Lauren Riley for the team lead with seven goals on the season.
- Hay was efficient in her 25 minutes of play scoring two goals in the short stretch of play.
- Koshijima's goal added to her point total to push her team lead to 20 on the season.
- Grace McClellan didn't face a direct shot on target but earned another shutout win in net.
- The Seahawks outshot their opponents 22-3 on the day, 8-0 on goal.
