The No. 14-ranked Keiser football team closed out the non-conference portion of its 2022 season with a 37-3 loss at Lindenwood on Saturday night. The Lions were the first NCAA Division I (FCS) team the Seahawks had faced in the team's five-year history.  
 

First Quarter
Lindenwood 7, Keiser 3
  • The Seahawks forced the Lions to punt on their first drive, holding Lindenwood to just 22 yards.
  • Keiser was forced to punt on its first possession after a false start moved the Seahawk from third-and-short to third-and-long.
  • The Lions got on the board with a 33-yard touchdown pass from Cade Brister to Payton Rose. 
  • With the made extra point, Lindenwood lead, 7-0, with 8:38 left in the first.
  • KU responded with an 11-play, 30-yard scoring drive capped off with a Chance Gagnon 32-yard field goal.
  • The score made it a 7-3 game with 2:19 on the game clock.

Second Quarter
Lindenwood 28, Keiser 3
  • Lindenwood scored 21 unanswered points in the second stanza to take a 25-point lead.
  • The Lions added to their lead with an 11-yard touchdown pass from Brister to Kobe Smith, giving LU a 14-3 lead with 12:08 remaining in the half.
  • On the ensuing drive, Keiser drove down to the Lindenwood seven-yard line, going 68 yards on 11 plays.
  • However, on third-and-seven, a sack/fumble of Shea Spencer gave the ball back to the Lions and ended KU's scoring threat with 8:00 on the clock.
  • Lindenwood used the turnover and turned it into a score following a 78-yard touchdown pass from Brister to Smith to give the Lions a 21-3 lead with 6:59 left in the half.
  • The Lions added their third touchdown of the quarter with a two-yard rushing touchdown by Andrew Martin with 2:08 left in the half. 

Third Quarter
Lindenwood 28, Keiser 3
  • After forcing the Seahawks to punt on their first possession of the half, Lindenwood drove down to the KU 25-yard line.
  • LU's Brister took a shot into the endzone but it was KU's Brian Edwards who came up with the interception - his first as a Seahawk.
  • The Seahawks used that turnover to drive 52 yards deep into Lion's territory.
  • However, a sack on third-and-one pushed the Seahawks back, forcing fourth-and-long. 
  • Shea Spencer completed an eight-yard pass to Jonathan Santos but it was a yard short, resulting in a turnover-on-downs with 34 second left in the third.

Fourth Quarter
Lindenwood 37, Keiser 3
  • The Lions opened the quarter with a seven-play scoring drive highlighted with a 32-yard field goal by Logan Seibert (31-3) with 12:34 left in the game.
  • A fumble by running back Marques Burgess at the Seahawk's 32-yard line led to a short field for LU.
  • Lindenwood took advantage of the turnover as Justin Williams scored on a 16-yard run.
  • With the missed extra point, Lindenwood led, 37-3, with 9:37 remaining in the contest.

  • With the loss, Keiser moves to 1-3 on the year and 34-12 all-time.
  • All three of KU's losses this season have come against NCAA teams (two Division II, one Division I).
  • Saturday marked the Seahawk's first game played in the state of Missouri.
  • With the loss, Keiser drops to 11-7 all-time in non-conference action.
  • The Lions were the first NCAA Division I (FCS) team that the Keiser Seahawks have faced in program history.
