Marques Burgess went over 4,000-career rushing yards as Keiser football smashed Florida Memorial, 48-7. The Seahawks put up 508 total yards, forced two turnovers, and Shea Spencer threw three touchdown passes.  
 

 

First Quarter
Keiser 10, Florida Memorial 0
  • Keiser forced the Lions to punt on their opening possession, driving the Lions back -16 yards.
  • The Seahawks took the lead on their opening possession with a Chance Gagnon 30-yard field goal. 
  • After each team exchanged punts, Keiser stuffed Florida Memorial on a fake field goal attempt.
  • KU added to its lead with a 51 yard touchdown pass from Shea Spencer to Myles Henderson.
  • The score gave Keiser a 10-0 lead with seven seconds left in the quarter.

Second Quarter

Keiser 27, Florida Memorial 7
  • After forcing another FMU punt, Keiser would take a 17-0 lead when Myles Henderson broke free on a 67-yard passing TD from Shea Spencer with 7:20 left in the half.
  • Three minutes later, Marques Burgess put the Seahawks up 24-0 with a two-yard rushing score.
  • Keiser (Wendol Philord) forced a fumble on the next FMU possession, which was recovered by Jaelin Willis
  • Gagnon would end the next KU possession with a 35-yard field goal, putting Keiser up 27-0 (2:21 on the game clock).
  • The Lions were able to get into the end zone with a 15-yard passing score on their final possession of the half.

Third Quarter

Keiser 34, Florida Memorial 7
  • Keiser began the third quarter with the ball, and methodically drove down the field and capped the drive with a 32 yard passing touchdown to Jaylen Arnold
  • Keiser and Florida Memorial each had long possessions that didn't result in points. 

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 48, Florida Memorial 7
  • The fourth quarter began with FMU in the red zone (3rd-and-10 from the KU 14-yard line).
  • However, Jace Stewart ended the Lion's threat, picking off an Antoine Williams pass in the endzone. 
  • On Keiser's opening possession of the fourth quarter, the Seahawks gave the ball to Jaden Meizinger five times in a row, and he capped the drive by rumbling into the endzone on a 56-yard score with 11:45 left in the game. 
  • After forcing the Lions to punt, the Seahawks engineered a clock-draining drive that ate up 5:19 of game time and ended with a two yard Maurico Porcha rushing touchdown.
  • KU forced a turnover on downs on Florida Memorial's next drive, and ran out the remaining 2:24 to finish the game.

  • With the win, Keiser improves to 3-0 all-time versus the Lions.
  • The Seahawks have outscored the Lions, 141-33, all-time.
  • The Seahawks are now 21-3 all-time in conference action.
  • Saturday marked the KU's first Sun Conference game in program history - previous four seasons were in the Mid-South. 
  • The Seahawks improve to 19-3 all-time at the KU Mutli-Purpose Field. 
  • Keiser outgained Florida Memorial, 302-25, on the ground. 
  • Marques Burgess rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. It marked the first 100-yard rushing game of the season for Burgess.
  • Burgess reached the 4,000-yard rushing plateau in the first quarter. The native of Fort Pierce, Florida, needed just 24 yards, entering the game.
  • Jaden Meizinger rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown, averaging 9.6 yards per carry.
  • Meizinger's 56-yard touchdown run on Saturday was the longest by a Seahawks since he recorded a 75-yard TD run versus Arizona Christian (4/17/21).
  • Myles Henderson set the school record for receiving yards with 122 (on only three catches).
  • Henderson's performance was the first 100-yard receiving game by a receiver since Jerson Jacques posted 144 yards versus Point (Ga.) (9/25/21).
  • Shea Spencer posted the second three-touchdown-passing game of his career (3 at Warner - 8/27/22).
  • Spencer recorded the second-longest touchdown pass in school history with a 67-yarder to Henderson.
  • Jaylen Arnold added to his career totals with five catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. The KU tight end is the school's all-time leader in catches (119), receiving yards (1,541), and receiving touchdowns (22).
