Flag Football Picks up Two More SUN Wins on Senior Day

The Keiser Seahawks picked up two more wins on Thursday, downing the Warner Royals, 34-13, and defeating the Webber International, 32-13. 

Prior to the doubleheader, KU recognized Jazmin Rhoden, who was playing in her final regular season home games of her Seahawk career. Rhoden finished the day with 463 yards and eight TDs in the two games. On the defensive side of the ball, Maria Vega grabbed three INTs, including an 18-yard pick six, in the pair of victories.

First Quarter
Keiser 7, Warner 0
  • The Seahawks opened the game with a five-play, 66-yard scoring drive that lasted 3:43.
  • Jazmin Rhoden connected with Emma Wagenman for eight yards and a touchdown. 
  • The extra point attempt (Rhoden to Allyson Goolsby) was good. 
  • The Seahawks were knocking on the door with under four minutes left in the quarter, getting to the Warner one-yard line.
  • A bad snap on fourth-and-goal ended the KU scoring threat and gave the back to WU. 

Second Quarter
Keiser 14, Warner 0
  • Warner drove down the field getting the to the KU 10-yard line (first-and-goal).
  • Four straight incomplete passes by Madison Tingen (two forced by Reigan Pellegrino)  kept the Royals out of the endzone.
  • The Seahawks took over on downs.
  • Twelve plays later, Keiser scored on a three-yard touchdown pass from Rhoden to Kennedy Foster.
  • A successful extra-point attempt (Rhoden to Foster) made it a 14-0 game. 
  • The Royals looked to get on the board, driving down the field with 38 second left in the half but the Keiser defense again shut down the WU attack.
  • KU held a 14-0 lead at intermission. 

Third Quarter
Keiser 21, Warner 7
  • Warner struck first in the second half, scoring the teams first drive.
  • Tingen hit Trinity Keeran for a seven-yard score.
  • The made extra-point attempt cut the Keiser lead to seven.
  • The Seahawks responded on the ensuing possession, as Rhoden found Foster in the endzone for the second time in the contest (three-yard TD pass).
  • A good extra-point attempt made it 21-7. 

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 34, Warner 13
  • An interception by Maria Vega late in the third quarter gave the ball to the Seahawks at the Warner 15-yard line.
  • The first play of the quarter resulted in a two-yard touchdown catch for Emma Wagenman (from Rhoden), pushing the Keiser lead to 20.
  • The Seahawks added another score - a 20-yard TD reception for Chloe Griffin with 7:04 left in the game.
  • Warner scored late in the game (2:05) to make it a 34-13 contest.

First Quarter

Keiser 6, Webber Int'l 0
  • On the very first play of the game, Rhoden connected with Griffin for a 66-yard touchdown strike (the extra-point attempt was no good).
  • Webber Int'l looked to get on the board late in the quarter but a interception return for 37 yards by Vega gave the ball back to the Seahawks deep in WIU territory.

Second Quarter
Keiser 18, Webber Int'l 13
  • With 10:23 remaining in the half, Rhoden found Goolsby for two yards and the score, giving Keiser a 12-0 lead (extra-point attempt was no good).
  • Again the Warriors put together a drive which lasted deep into KU territory but an interception by Ariana Payne in the endzone gave the ball back to the Seahawks with 6:32 on the game clock.
  • Haylie Young threw her first touchdown pass of the day, connecting with Griffin for 25 yards, extending the Keiser lead to 18.
  • The Warriors broke onto the scoreboard with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Samantha Brown to Kayla Burrows (00:50) - extra-point attempt was good. 
  • After forcing the Seahawks to punt, WIU scored again as Wilson found Erica Turral in the endzone (two-yard TD pass) with 28 second left in the half. 

Third Quarter

Keiser 18, Webber Int'l 13
  • Both teams had two possessions in the quarter but neither could do any damage as the score remained 18-13.
  • Goolsby pick off a Wilson pass with 2:45 left in the quarter as WIU had the ball first-and-goal from the KU 24.
  • A 42-yard completion from Rhoden to Adriana Rodriguez moved the Seahawks into the redzone as the quarter was coming to an end. 

Fourth Quarter

Kesier 32, Webber Int'l 13
  • Two plays into the fourth, Rhoden completed a four-yard pass to Kennedy in the endzone to make it a 25-13 game.
  • On the ensuing possession, Vega took the Warriors first pass attempt of the quarter to the house, scoring on an 18-yard interception return for a touchdown with 11:05 left in the game.
  • The Warriors looked to get into the endzone late in the game but Sydney Woodman recorded the team's sixth interception of the game.
  • With a 19-point lead and the ball, the game ended at the two-minute warning.
