The Keiser women's basketball team opened the 2022 Webber International Shootout with a 77-52 loss to the No. 6-ranked Marian Knights on Friday afternoon.
Elliana Schaefer and
Shykim Gillion each scored in double-figures as the Seahawks had their five-game winning snapped.
Despite cutting the Knight's lead to four early in the first, the Seahawks could not overcome an 11-3 run over the end of the first and the beginning of the second quarter.

Marian (Ind.) 22, Keiser 14
- Marian (nd.) used a 10-2 run to open the game and take an eight-point leas with 6:02 left in the first.
- Back-to-back buckets by Janiece Thomas (4:38) and Zaniah Banks (4:02) cut the Knight's lead to four, 12-8.
- Trailing by seven, Elliana Schaefer made the score 17-12 with a layup at the 2:08 mark.
- The Knight's out-scored the Seahawks, 5-2, in the final two minutes to take an eight-point lead after one quarter of action.
Marian (Ind.) 45, Keiser 32
- The Knight opened the quarter with a 6-1 run to take a 28-15 lead with 8:31 left in the half.
- Schaefer converted a layup with 7:28 on the game clock to make it a 28-17 game.
- Thomas hit a 3-pointer at the 4:33 mark but MU responded with a triple of their own to take a 15-point lead, 36-21 (4:10).
- Schaefer scored five straight points for the Seahawks to pull within 10, 38-28 (2:28).
- The Knight's maintained their double-digit lead going into the half up by 13.
Marian (Ind.) 63, Keiser 41
- Ella Collier gave the Knight's a 17-point lead (51-34) on a fastbreak layup with 6:39 remaining in the third.
- Julia Fitzwater hit a three with 5:49 on the game clock as KU trailed 51-37
- A 6-0 run pushed the Knight's lead to 20, 57-37, with 3:07 on the clock.
- A made jumper by Allison Bosse closed out the quarter as MU led Keiser, 63-41.
Marian (Ind.) 77, Keiser 52
- A 12-0 run by the Knights extended Marian's lead to 75-41 with 5:24 remaining in the contest.
- The Seahawks responded with a run of their own, out-scoring the Knight 10-0, 75-51 (1:15).
- A jumper by MU's Majestic Sales made the score 77-51 with 54 second left in the game.
- Fitzwater hit one-of-two free-throw attempts to close out the scoring, 77-52.

- This loss drops Keiser to 10-5 overall this season.
- The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Seahawks.
- Friday marked the fifth meeting between Keiser and Marian (Ind.).
- With the loss, Keiser drops to 2-3 all-time versus the Knights.
