No. 1 women's soccer had a deficit early but was able to come from behind and defeat Westcliff 3-0 in the First Round of the NAIA National Championship. It was Marthe Taugbøl who tied the game in the 35th minute before two second-half goals by Maja Henriksson and Kyoka Koshijima helped the Seahawks advance to the NAIA Second Round.

How it Happened
  • Westcliff had the first opportunity in the third minute after a misplaced pass from Keiser fell to the foot of Angelina Espinal who took advantage of the open net and put the Warriors ahead 1-0.
  • Two minutes later, Kyoka Koshijima got the first opportunity for Keiser in front of net but the shot went wide of the net.
  • She would also have the next chance in the 20th minute after a cross from Henriksson found her in the box but the volley would fly wide of the goal.
  • In the 25th minute Julia Forslund took her chance but the shot bounced off the post and out of play.
  • A handball in the 35th minute would lead to the seventh penalty kick chance this season for the Seahawks. Marthe Taugbøl would step up to the spot and sink the shot to tie the game at 1-1.
  • KU would test the Warriors' keeper two more times before the halftime whistle would blow with the game still tied 1-1.
  • Westcliff would get the early chance again in the second half before a shot fired by Thea Sofie Kanestrom would sail wide of the net.
  • The ensuing goal kick would travel nearly the length of the pitch where Henriksson would try to chip the keeper but it would be slightly too high.
  • In the 64th minute, a free kick from Taugbøl would force a last second save from the Warriors keeper to keep the game knotted at one apiece.
  • The M&M connection would make an appearance in the 70th minute as Maja Lundman found Maja Henriksson who slotted the ball into the right side of the net to put the Seahawks ahead 2-1.
  • Seira Uko showed off her power in the 75th minute with a rocket of a shot that needed to be punched over the bar by the Westcliff keeper.
  • In the 78th minute, a corner by Georgia Little would be guided into the box before Koshijima would run on and head the ball into the left side of the net to put Keiser ahead 3-1.
  • The Seahawks would battle to maintain possession for the remaining ten minutes as the clock would wind down to zero to confirm another victory for Keiser.
