No. 1 women's soccer claimed their ninth Sun Conference Tournament Title on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 win over the No. 9 Southeastern Fire at home in West Palm Beach, Florida. The game-winning goal came from a familiar SEU foe as
Maja Henriksson registered the only goal of the game.
- Keiser would have the opening chance of the game with back-to-back shots that forced saves from Fire keeper, Holly Eddins.
- In the 13th minute, a Seahawks foul would give SEU's Naira Lopez a chance from just over 30 yards away but she would hit the post and the ball would go out of play.
- KU would push forward but consecutive offsides calls would thwart the attacks.
- Southeastern took the offensive from there, firing two shots that Grace McClellan handled.
- Three corners in a row by the Fire led to the best opportunity in the first half for Southeastern as a headed shot bounced off the crossbar and over the goal.
- Southeastern outshot Keiser in the first half 9-5 but the Seahawks held the advantage in shots on goal, 4-3.
- The second half saw an awakened Seahawks side as following a save by Eddins, Kyoka Koshijima sent a chance just outside the post in the 49th minute.
- SEU would charge back, firing two shots that would force saves from McClellan.
- In the 66th minute, a pass in the box from Lauren Riley found Maja Henriksson in the box who was able to fire a shot past the keeper and put KU ahead 1-0.
- The chances would continue for Keiser as Georgia Little and Ellen Maund worked a 1-2 passing play ending with Maund's shot sailing just over the goal.
- Chelsie Hay would have the final shot of the contest but a strong save from Eddins would keep the forward from extending the lead.
- The fans in attendance went on to countdown the final 10 seconds as Keiser claimed the Sun Conference Tournament Championship.
- The Seahawks improved to 19-0-1 on the season and 21-6-3 in the Sun Conference Postseason.
- With the win, Keiser is now 7-3-3 in Sun Conference Championships and 3-1 at home against the Fire in the postseason.
- It was the 15th shutout of the year for the Seahawks which tied the 2019 squad for most in a season by a team.
- KU also improved to 59-30-10 in ranked matchups all-time, 7-0-1 this season alone.
- Henriksson's goal was the third time she has scored against the Fire this year and also her 30th point of the season.
- Riley's third assist of the season came at the most opportune time for the freshman forward.
- With a season-high eight saves, Grace McClellan recorded her program-record 26th career individual shutout.
