Keiser women's tennis wrapped up their second day at the Barry Invitational with improved results in Miami Shores, Fla. The ladies went 1-1 in doubles against Barry and 4-1 in singles play against Flagler.
The new doubles tandem of
Yvette Schmucker and
Isabella Perez Flores picked up their first win as a pairing on Saturday, winning 6-4 against their Buccaneer opponents of Nathalia Gasparin and Dinara Alloyarove. Both players then went on to win their singles matches against the division II side of Flagler College. Schmucker was victorious 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 while Perez won 6-4, 6-4 over Dana Heimen.
Head Coach
Daniel Finn said, "Thought we did a better job today in doubles. Still went 1-1, but played a bit better. We mixed up some new teams today to get some new looks and it wasn't bad. In singles, we did a really good job today of playing well in important points and it showed in the scores. Happy to take 4 of 5 singles matches against a quality top-10 d2 team. Thus far, the girls have had a pretty good showing here, but we need to keep our focus and adjust to make sure we finish well tomorrow."
