Keiser women's tennis opened their ITA Cup runs with a strong first showing as the girls went 2-1 in singles play and won both of their doubles matches.
Violet Apisah and
Yvette Schmucker showed early why they were highly ranked heading into the tournament. Apisah took care of her first opponent with ease, downing Daniela Herrera (Bethel) 6-3, 6-0 while Schmucker showed even less struggle with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Malak Abarkane (WCU). The two then paired in doubles play, winning 6-2, 6-2 over Micaela Ponce and Ariana Salqueiro-Estela (LUNO).

Head CoachÂ
Daniel Finn said, "The beginnings of tournaments are never easy so I'm happy to get off to some decent starts for the most part. You can't win the event of the first day, but you can definitely lose it. That said, happy to have all but one advanced into tomorrow's Quarterfinals, but still need some better effort tomorrow if we want to keep playing. No match will be easy from here."
