The Keiser women's basketball team saw their two-game winning streak snapped Thursday evening as they fell to Florida Memorial in Sun Conference action, 77-71.

Following an Elise Ellison-Coons layup that put Keiser up 67-66 with 3:51 remaining, Florida Memorial closed the contest with 11 of the final 15 points to come away with a 77-71 win.
 
 
How it Happened


First Quarter
Keiser 15, Florida Memorial 19
  • After a back-and-forth start, the Seahawks used a 5-0 surge to take their largest lead of the period, 12-8, with 2:52 remaining.
  • The two sides traded three-pointers before back-to-back triples put the Lions up 17-15 as :40 ticks remained on the clock.
  • Aliyah-Deen Ahmad capped off an 8-0 run by Florida Memorial with a layup as :19 showed on the clock, giving the Lions a 19-15 lead heading into the second.

Second Quarter
Keiser 37, Florida Memorial 38
  • The Seahawks netted seven of the first 11 points of the period to regain the lead, 22-21, on a Chiara De Virgilio jumper at the 7:29 mark.
  • The two squads alternated the next 16 points before Andressa Nascimento put the Seahawks up four, 33-29, with three makes at the foul line.
  • Florida Memorial answered with four straight points to tie the game for a fourth time on the night, 33-33, with 3:00 showing on the clock.
  • Five of the last nine points went in favor of the Lions, who took a 38-37 advantage into the break.

Third Quarter

  • Shykim Gillion knotted the game for a fifth time, 44-44, with her fourth triple of the season at the 6:42 mark. 
  • With the score level at 47-47, Florida Memorial closed the period on a 10-4 run to take a 57-51 lead into the fourth.

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 71, Florida Memorial 77
  • KU responded with an 8-2 stretch to open the fourth, tying the contest for the eighth time, 59-59, as 8:01 showed on the clock.
  • Shykim and Shikal Gillion led the surge for the Seahawks as the twins scored or assisted on all four baskets.
  • Ellison-Coons put Keiser back in front, 67-66, with a layup at the 3:51 mark.
  • The Lions netted 11 of the final 15 points of the contest as the Seahawks fell, 77-71.
