No. 1 seed, Nicole Coopersmith closed out her first ITA Regional in dominant fashion. The freshman was tasked with playing against not only her teammate but also doubles partner, Vanja Vidanovic. Coopersmith controlled the match from start to finish to claim the title by a score of (6-4, 6-2). Coopersmith is now guaranteed a spot in Rome, Ga. for the ITA Cup in October.

Head Coach Daniel Finn said, "I'm really proud of Niki. She competed all week and stayed focused throughout the tournament, no matter what circumstances came about. I honestly believe that Niki got better every match as the tournament went along, and looked even stronger in the final. She deserves this win and I'm really excited to see her compete at nationals in the ITA cup. I'm also really proud of Vanja's efforts. To be unseeded and make a run to the finals as she did, the hard way says a lot about her and her willingness to compete. Hopefully, we can get her an at-large bid into the ITA cup and get the chance to see both these very talented freshmen represent our program in a couple weeks at the national level."
