With the score tied at 56-56, CoreVon Lott pushed the ball up the court, lost his dribble, regained control, and hit a turnaround jumper at the buzzer, lifting Keiser past the reigning national champions, No. 15 Georgetown, 58-56, in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament Friday evening.

The win marks the first national tournament victory for the Seahawks since 2016 when they advanced to the quarterfinals.

How it Happened

First Half
Keiser 23, Georgetown 22
  •  After Georgetown took an early 8-4 lead, Quinton Glaspie sparked an 11-2 run for the Seahawks as they jumped out to their largest lead of the game, 15-10, at the 8:47 mark.
  • Keiser held the Tigers scoreless for 6:28 during the stretch.
  • Back-to-back three-pointers from Georgetown put them back in front, 16-15, as 5:48 remained in the half.
  • Glaspie answered the Tigers' surge with four straight points of his own, pushing his first-half total to 12 as KU regained the lead, 19-16, with 4:00 left in the half.
  • Georgetown netted six of the final 10 points of the half, but the Seahawks held a 23-22 edge at the break.
Second Half
Keiser 58, Georgetown 56
  • Following five lead changes to open the second period, Georgetown took their largest lead of the night, 35-29, courtesy of a 7-2 run as 15:22 showed on the clock.
  • The Seahawks answered with 11 of the next 15 points, capped off by a pull-up triple by Lott, reclaiming the lead, 40-39, at the 10:49 mark.
  • The Tigers responded with a 6-0 spurt to push back in front, 45-40, with 9:18 remaining in the contest.
  • Keiser jumped back on top, 48-47, as Michael Gavin capped off an 8-2 stretch with a layup as 4:33 showed on the clock.
  • Out of a KU timeout, Georgetown scored four consecutive points to regain the lead, 51-48, at the 3:32 mark.
  • A technical foul on the Tigers for hanging on the rim swung momentum back in favor of the Seahawks.
  • Following the technical, Keiser ran off eight of the next 10 points to take a 56-53 lead with 38 ticks left on the clock.
  • After two offensive rebounds and two Keiser fouls kept the ensuing possession alive for the Tigers, Georgetown evened the score, 56-56, with a three from the top of the key as five seconds remained in the game.
  • Out of a KU timeout, Lott pushed the ball up the floor, lost his dribble, picked it back up, and hit a turnaround jumper at the buzzer to push Keiser to a 58-56 victory.
