The Keiser Seahawks improved to 5-0 all-time versus Johnson (Fla.) with a 73-65 win over the Suns on Saturday afternoon. Five Seahawks scored in double-figures, including a team-high 19 points by Antwan Claxton, as KU moved to 5-5 on the year.

How it Happened



First Half

Keiser 41, Johnson (Fla.) 32
  • Buckets by three different Seahawks gave KU and early 7-0 lead to start the game. 
  • Quinton Glaspie gave Keiser an eight-point lead, 11-3, with a made layup at the 15:31 mark.
  • JUFL cut the Keiser lead to two with a 3-pointer by Justin Ryder, 16-14, with 11:57 on the clock.
  • Ryder gave the Suns a one-point lead, 23-22, with fastbreak layup with 8:09 remaining in the half. 
  • The lead changed hands three times over the next three minutes before a pair of made free throws by Nelson Gonzalez gave KU a 26-25 advantage (6:02).
  • The Seahawks used an 11-3 run capped off by a Core'von Lott 3-pointer (00:36) to close out the half and take a nine-point lead into intermission. 

Second Half

Keiser 73, Johnson (Fla.) 65
  • JUFL tied the game a 43-43 with 17:48 remaining.
  • Elijah Barnes gave the Sun their first lead since the first half with bucket at the 15:56 mark, 45-43.
  • Harris tied the game 15 seconds later with a pair of successful attempt from the charity stripe, 45-45.
  • After Harris pushed the KU lead to three with a made free throw (14:16), the Suns pulled within one, 48-47 with 13:32 left to play.
  • The Seahawks scored nine straight points to cap off a 13-2 run and push their lead to 10, 57-47, with 11:31 left in the game.
  • KU maintained its lead for the remainder of the half en route to the eight-point victory. 
  • The Seahawks would not allow the Suns to get any closer that five point in the final 11:31 to improve to 5-5 on the year.
