Led by strong performances from Wendol Philord (two interceptions) and Marques Burgess (171 rush yards), the No. 12 Keiser football team closed out their 2021 home slate with a 38-15 victory over Mid-South Conference Sun Division foe St. Thomas Saturday night.

Prior to the game, the Seahawks recognized 17 seniors for all their contributions to the program. 

First Quarter
Keiser 0, St. Thomas 0
  • The Bobcats won the coin toss and elected to receive, sending the Keiser defense to work first. 
  • St. Thomas threatened on their opening drive, reaching the Seahawk 11-yard line but failed to come away with points as Alejandro Prado missed a 28-yard attempt at the 11:03 mark.
  • Both teams combined for five punts in the quarter as the score was locked at 0-0 heading into the second.

Second Quarter
Keiser 14, St. Thomas 3
  • St. Thomas struck first in the second quarter as Prado connected on a 40-yard attempt to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead with 12:26 left in the half.
  • Keiser responded on the ensuing drive as Burgess dragged a group of defenders into the end zone for a 7-yard score. Chance Gagnon's extra point was good as KU led 7-3 with 9:07 remaining in the half.
  • Following a three-and-out by the Bobcats, Johnathan Mosley connected with Traionn Jones for a 15-yard touchdown at the 3:35 mark. Gagnon's extra point pushed the lead to 14-3.
  • After punts by both teams, St. Thomas attempted to close out the half with points but Philord picked off Tyler Thomas' pass in the end zone with :09 ticks left on the clock.
  • The Seahawks took a knee and headed into the locker room with a 14-3 advantage.

Third Quarter
Keiser 28, St. Thomas 3
  • Burgess used his speed on the opening drive of the second half as the junior broke free for a 46-yard touchdown run, increasing the KU lead to 21-3 at the 12:33 mark.
  • Prior to the score, Mosley delivered a quick strike over the middle to Jerson Jacques for a 23-yard gain, helping set up the touchdown run.
  • Philord struck again at the 7:31 mark as the freshman intercepted his second pass of the game, jumping Thomas' pass and setting up the Seahawks at the Bobcat 34-yard line.
  • The interception was Philord's sixth of the year, tying the program's single-season record.
  • Keiser capitalized off the turnover as Mosley kept it himself for a 15-yard touchdown run as 5:27 showed on the clock. Gagnon's extra point pushed the lead to 28-3.
  • St. Thomas looked to answer on their ensuing drive, but the Keiser defense once again forced a turnover with their backs against the wall.
  • Philord tipped Ty'Quan Wiggins pass, sending the ball into the hands of Kensly Johnson, who recorded his first career interception in the closing seconds of the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 38, St. Thomas 15
  • Wiggins and the Bobcat offense found the end zone for the first time on their opening drive of the fourth quarter as the freshman found Joshua Beneby for a 43-yard touchdown at the 11:59 mark. Prado's extra point attempt was blocked by Alessandro Cantillo, making the score 28-9 in favor of KU.
  • Gagnon answered the Bobcat score with a 24-yard field goal to push the lead to 31-9 as 8:28 remained in the contest.
  • Following back-to-back punts, St. Thomas cut into the deficit, 31-15, as Wiggins powered his way in from a yard out with 4:06 showing on the clock. The Bobcats two-point conversion failed.
  • Burgess put the final touches on the KU win with an 18-yard touchdown run with 1:00 left on the clock, making the final score 38-15.

  • Saturday's contest marked the third meeting all-time between the two South Florida programs
  • The win improved KU to 3-0 all-time and 2-0 at home against the Bobcats
  • The victory improved the Sehawks to 4-1 in MSC Sun Division play on the season
  • All-time, Keiser is now 19-3 in MSC Sun Division play
  • The Seahawks improved to 18-3 all-time on the Keiser Football Field
  • Keiser has won nine of their last 10 games in West Palm Beach
  • The victory improved KU to 4-2 in the month of November all-time
  • Victor Alvarez Jr. registered his 20th career sack in the win
  • The two interceptions for Philord were a career-high
  • Wesley Scott led all players with 14 tackles in the win
  • Burgess, who entered Saturday's game as the nation's leading rusher, surpassed the century mark for the seventh straight game
  • With the three rushing touchdowns, Burgess has now surpassed 40 for his career
  • Defensively, the Seahawks held the Bobcats well below their season scoring average of 41.4 points
  • Overall, KU outgained St. Thomas 401-381

  • Mosley: 12-of-15 passing for 188 yards and one touchdown
