Keiser women's tennis team opened play at the NSU Shark Bite Invite on Friday with a solid showing. The Seahawks went 3-3 in singles and 1-1 in doubles against the Division II field.
The highlights of the opening day were
Kanon Sorakubo winning a thrilling three-set match over Nicoline Palmgren of Tampa, 6-2, 3-6, [10-8], and
Florencia Araya and
Madalena Peneda taking down the Lynn duo of Eliska Petrackova and Mahika Rana, 6-3.
Head Coach
Daniel Finn said, "Not the easiest of conditions today. The wind was swirling around which certainly made things a bit tricky. Overall, I'm happy with the way we handled the situations and the cards that we were dealt. Thought the girls did a good job today of applying what we've worked on since last week and that has put them in some good positions going into tomorrow's semifinal rounds. At the end of the day, tomorrow is a brand new day. We're going to have to come out focused and ready to play."
