Led by the rushing attack of
Marques Burgess (101) and
Johnathan Mosley (106), the No. 13 Keiser football team pulled away late to defeat Webber International, 28-7, in a Mid-South Conference Sun Division matchup Saturday evening.
In the win, Burgess became the first player in program history to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season.Â
Saturday's contest served as the Seahawks annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game.

- The Keiser defense took the field first after the Seahawks won toss and deferred to the second half.
- After both squads traded punts on their opening series, the Warriors struck first as Cody Braden connected with Jacob Moss for a 32-yard touchdown at the 3:17 mark. Austin Smith's extra point made it 7-0.
- The Seahawks failed to answer the Webber score as the Warriors led 7-0 after one.

- Sage Chen-Young, who served as this week's captain, gave Keiser a spark after picking up a Webber punt off the bounce and returning 34 yards down to the Warrior three-yard line.
- The Seahawks hit paydirt on the ensuing play as Burgess punched it in from three yards out with 13:57 showing on the clock. Chance Gagnon's extra point evened the score at 7-7.
- Wendol Philord forced the first of four Webber turnovers as the freshman picked off his fourth pass of the year with 6:20 left in the half.
- Keiser failed to capitalize on the Webber mistake though as they were forced to punt the ball away.
- Following a three-and-out by the Warriors, Burgess found the end zone once again as the junior powered his way in from 10 yards out with :08 ticks left on the clock. Gagnon's extra point gave KU a 14-7 lead at the break.

- After KU was forced to punt on their opening possession of the second half, the Warriors threatened as they reached the Keiser one-yard line.
- The Seahawks defense stood tall though as Chen-Young batted down Braden's pass on fourth-and-goal, forcing a turnover-on-downs as 8:07 remained in the quarter.
- Cecil Rolle forced the first fumble of the game and Jertavis Black came away with the recovery as 5:22 showed on the clock but the Seahawks couldn't capitalize.
- Keiser took a 14-7 lead into the fourth after a scoreless third quarter by both teams.

- Mosley, who was making his first career start, increased the Keiser lead, 21-7, with a four-yard swing pass to Jaden Meizinger at the 13:04 mark.Â
- Keiser added one more score on the night as Mosley hit Caleb Walls down the right sideline for a 52-yard touchdown with 7:25 remaining in the game. Gagnon's extra point made the final tally 28-7.
- Chen-Young picked off his third pass of the season and Jai Robinson forced a fumble that was recovered by Corey Lamy in the final quarter of play.

- Keiser improved to 5-0 and 4-0 in MSC Sun Division play against Webber
