Keiser University opened their 2020-21 basketball season with a 69-61 setback at Florida College on Tuesday evening.
Keiser 12, Florida 18
- Florida College ran out to an early 8-4 advantage at the 7:48 mark.
- A Keondra Smith jumper in the paint sparked a 6-0 run, giving Keiser their first lead of the season, 10-8, with 4:37 remaining.
- Following two ties, the Falcons scored the final six points of the frame to lead 18-12.
Keiser 22, Florida 32
- The Seahawks closed to within a possession, 20-17, when FC went on a 12-2 run, upping their advantage to the largest of the half, 32-20, at the 1:23 mark.
- Smith laid the ball in with 16 tics remaining as Keiser trailed at the break, 32-22.
Keiser 39, Florida 50
- Keiser was unable to get within single digits during the quarter, trailing by as many as 15 on three occasions.
- Florida led 50-39 as the season opener moved to the fourth quarter.
Keiser 61, Florida 69
- The Seahawks outscored the home team, 22-19, in the final frame but were unable to complete the comeback.
- Chiara De Virgilio connected on a three-pointer with 2:03 showing on the scoreboard as Keiser trailed, 62-55.
- Antigonie Sanabria followed with a floater in the paint as the Seahawks got to within five with 1:30 to go.
- However, Florida College held on down the stretch, handing KU their first loss of the season, 69-61.
