The Seahawks women's basketball team fell to Florida Memorial, 71-68 on Saturday afternoon in Miami Gardens.
Keiser 19, Florida Memorial 17
- The Seahawks scored the first six points of the game and stretched their advantage to 10-2 with 4:46 remaining in the quarter. Emily Patton accounted for six of the KU points.
- Florida Memorial responded back with a 7-2 spurt to get within 12-9 at the 2:44 mark.
- A Keondra Smith layup made it a five point game but the Lions closed the gap to a possession for the remainder of the frame with Keiser remaining on top, 19-17.
Keiser 39, Florida Memorial 34
- A three-pointer by Kelly Meade and Smith layup bumped the margin to 24-17 with 9:16 to go.
- The Lions closed the gap to a point, 26-25, by virtue of an 8-2 run with 7:01 showing on the scoreboard.
- Keiser came right back with a 13-4 burst, claiming their largest lead of the game, 39-29 with 2:04 remaining in the half. Patton and Alasjia Dykes scored four points apiece in the span.
- FMU tallied the final five points of the half but trailed Keiser,39-34, at the intermission.
Keiser 55, Florida Memorial 50
- FMU opened the half on a 6-2 run to get within a single point, 41-40, with 6:13 left in the period.
- After trading buckets, the Lions scored nine straight points to claim their first lead of the game, 49-44 with 3:14 remaining.
- Keiser closed the quarter on a 6-1 run with Lindsey O'Sullivan scoring the final five points to lead 55-50.
Keiser 68, Florida Memorial 71
- FMU ran off the opening six points of the frame to go in front, 56-55, with 7:48 to go.
- Following four lead changes and the game tied at 60-60, Florida Memorial scored six consecutive points to lead 66-60 with 2:41 remaining.
- Keiser stormed back with an 8-2 run, evening the game at 68-68 with 31 ticks left in regulation.
- However, the Seahawks were unable to score again, falling on the road to the Lions, 71-68.
- 4: Four players finished with double-figures led by a team-high 18 from Patton. Smith also finished with a career-best four steals.
- 5: Keiser connected on five three-pointers with Meade going 3-of-3.
- 8: The Seahawks pulled down eight offensive rebounds which led to seven points.
- 15: The Seahawks went 15-of-19 at the free-throw line.
- 16: The Seahawks finished with 16 fast break points.
