Forward Mark Gordon had the most prolific scoring performance in Keiser men's basketball history with 42 points, as the No. 14 Seahawks used a dominant second half to earn the home Sun Conference victory over St. Thomas.

How it Happened

First Half
No. 14 Keiser 47, St. Thomas 45
  • Nine of the games first 11 points went to the Seahawks, with Gordon scoring five early points capitalized by an emphatic dunk at the 17:38 mark.
  • St. Thomas began to cut into their deficit with five straight points, but Gordon sunk a three-pointer, pushing KU right back up by five points, 12-7.
  • The Bobcats took their first lead of the game, 16-14, on the strength of a 9-2 run as the clock approached 15 minutes.
  • Keiser remained behind until Colin Hyssong hit a jumper, reclaiming a 20-19 advantage with 11:52 to go.
  • The Seahawks kept a one possession lead until St. Thomas went on a 6-0 spurt, claiming their largest lead of the game, 32-27, with 7:05 on the clock.
  • Keiser drew even at 36-36 when Jermar Perkins drained a three-pointer with 3:34 to go in the half.
  • The Seahawks drained three more from distance down the stretch as they took a 47-45 advantage into the halftime break.
  • Keiser assisted on 10 of their 14 made field goals in the half, while 17 points came from the bench. Gordon paced the offense with 14 points at the break.

Second Half

  •  The Seahawks lead reached double-digits for the first time, 59-49, after Malcolm Mabry got loose for a fast break layup at the 16:24 mark.
  • Following an STU basket, KU began a game-changing, 16-6 run, establishing a 75-57 lead nearing the midway point of the half. Gordon accounted for the first seven points of the run.
  • Moments later, after Marko Orlic hit a three-pointer, Gordon produced the next seven points for the Seahawks as the margin swelled to 86-66 with 5:59 remaining. .
  • Keiser continued to enforce their will as Gordon set the new school record with a fast break layup that brought the score to 90-68 with 4:51 on the clock.
  • Gordon tacked on one more free-throw to conclude his remarkable night as the Seahawks lead reached the largest of the night, 99-74, with under two minutes to play.
  • When the final whistle blew, Keiser had claimed their seventh Sun Conference victory of the season in impressive fashion, 101-80 over St. Thomas.

  • 3: Three players were in double-figures scoring, led by Gordon's 42, and supported by Ryan Kroll's 16 and Perkins 10.
  • 4: It was the fourth time this season that the Seahawks have eclipsed 100 points in a game.
  • 7: Keiser valued the basketball with a season-low seven turnovers.
  • 9: Chance Anderson grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
  • 11-22: Keiser connected on an efficient 50 percent of their three-point attempts, finishing 11-of-22.
  • 15: The Seahawks' 15th win matches their win total from a season ago. ​
  • 17-11: Following the win, Keiser now holds a 17-11 lead in the all-time series with the Bobcats.
  • 17-18: Gordon was 17-of-18 from the free-throw line, also setting the school-record for free-throws made in a game.
  • 26-29: The Seahawks missed just three free-throws all night.
  • 42: Gordon's 42 points in the game surpassed the previous record of 40 by Chris Solomon during the 2013-2014 season. Gordon was efficient on his way to the record-setting performance, sinking 11-of-17 from the field, 3-of-4 from downtown, and once again, 17-of-18 from the charity stripe. 28 of the 42 points also came in a dominant second half. 
  • 54-35: Keiser outscored the Bobcats 54-35 in the second half to run away with it.
