The Sun Conference announced its winners of the 2019 Men's and Women's Track & Field Champions of Character awards at the conference championship banquet held Friday night on the campus of USCB, and Ladicia Henfield was named The Sun Conference Women's Track & Field Champions of Character Award winner.
Henfield, a senior from Freeport, Bahamas, is working towards a degree in management from Keiser. A team captain, Henfield never misses a practice or makes an excuse to miss one of her responsibilities despite having a full plate as a student-athlete and a resident assistant while holding down a part-time job. She enjoys assisting others with their fitness regimens by not only encouraging them to continue to work hard but also taking part in the workout with them. Henfield believes that respect for others, especially your teammates, is the key to achieving goals. She also takes pride in having success on the track and in the classroom.
Henfield and the Seahawks begin the Sun Conference Championship on Saturday, April 27 at Savannah State University's Thedore A. Wright Stadium.
