The Seahawks connected on four home runs in today's opener including two by Reilly.
How it Happened
- A first pitch, three-run home run to left-center by Reilly gave the Seahawks an early 3-0 advantage. Keiser extended the margin after Ezequias Encarnacion went yard with a two-run shot to left.
- In the third, KU loaded the bases with one-out, but a pair of fly-outs ended the threat, as the margin stood at 5-0.
- Reilly went yard for a second time this afternoon as the advantage grew to 6-0 after four innings of play.
- Warner's first hit of the contest came in the fifth as Vazquez led off with a home run to left-center. The Royals tacked on a run via a sacrifice fly to left but trailed 6-2.
- A two-out RBI single to left by Nick Diaz got a run back for the Seahawks as KU led 7-2 in the fifth. The Seahawks exploded in the sixth with nine runs on nine hits to take a commanding, 16-2 advantage.
- Garrett Hall and Reilly started with back-to-back singles before Mark Gottsacker laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt. Juan De La Cruz then scored both runners with a double to right as the advantage grew to 9-2. A first pitch RBI single up the middle by Encarnacion tacked on a tenth run for Keiser.
- Nate VanKan plated a run with an RBI single and a wild pitch pushed the lead to 12-2 and Diaz added a run with an RBI single up the middle. Hall capped the scoring with a three-run blast to left as Keiser took game one, 16-2.
